A Master Defender Jedi could probably solo it. I took a MBH/Carbs
friend with me. I could tank the thing but spent a lot of time healing
so needed my friend to supply the additional damage to keep up
with the Katarns health regen.

A guildmate of mine actually did quite well against it solo, and he is not a Jedi. However, after he got the Katarn down to 200 health, it simply would not take anymore damage, and he'd get incapped.

It only takes a few players to beat it. Round up a couple of friends, and you should be able to defeat it easily.

Master Defenders can do it, but it's a tough one.

I did it with a mbh and im a mdef, could be soloed but it was still a good fight with 2!

Im doing the quest for Knuckles of Katarn, and i need to kill the Katarn. Im a TKM, Master Pikeman, Novice CM (will get 4000 Doc). I cant solo it, i tried with CoB on and was taking 300-400 dmg. Is it possible to kill it solo? Is there some area i can stand and not get attacked from some reason?

I ask cuz im in a PvP guild, and hang with PvP people, and they never do Kashyyk stuff, the only PvP.

Yes it Is killable with a non-jedi template im mbh mcarbs and pistols and this is what i did

------ran in and rooted

------unleashed my speacial attacks

------get a good distance away (30m)

------ when root wears off RUN IN A CIRCLE IT WILL NOT RETREAT

------when it catches up with you run in the little U culd-de-sac thing get in a crevis it will not be able to attack you heal up with stims/heal enhancers

------repeat till its dead

took me about 30 minutes BRING STIMS good luck!

i soloed it as well master rifleman/4430 BH/ 4004 CM... was buffed with blob candy, crispic, ruby bliel, and pikatta pie... took me about 8-10 minutes.. heres what i did :

- get close paralyze
- electrolyte drain
- run back away and kneecap shoot it
- kite around in circles using a dc-15 rifle
- when electrolyte drain wears off, knock down reapply then kneecap shot
- repeat till dead.. took me no more then 10 minutes solo

ps: gotta be sure to not get aggro from other monsters in area though.

I solo'ed it with MSmuggler/MRifleMan

Root for 40 secs all the time and nice damage. took some mins.

I am trying to kill it with MCM, 4410 rifles, 4410 BH. Its a bear of a fight though....gonna try kiting it next. btw always bring food...i forgot mine

I'm quite often called upon to go and kill Katarn for guildmates, similar to the CM above, I just use electrolyte drain and kite, using stopping shot to reapply the drain.

For anyone esle use a droid to distract it when your root cooldown is running and shoot it when its rooted.

Yeah its great that you can heal the droid with bacta injection and ranged/area stims too hehe
