Tycho509 could you post a link or the text from the statement here?


If this is true chefs, BEs and probably some other profs would be hurt in some areas...

I believe +125 is the hard cap for all mods, natural or tapes.

+125 is cap for natural skill mods. You can have an additional +25 from attachments or food.

House of Commons Stratics chat(scroll down to Keldarin's comments: [01:25:03] In Publish 7 we added a cap for the Dodge, Counterattack, Block, Ranged Defense & Melee Defense skill mods. [01:25:32] These are all capped internally at 125. The UI will show a higher number, but nothing beyond 125 will count.)

that was my understanding as well. 125 natural cap, +25 in seas/shirt/backpack can be added

Yes that is correct, there is no hard cap at +125, its a soft cap based on skill granted mods, you can get an extra +25 from attachments etc...

There is a hard cap at +125, but this is ONLY for defense, so chefs, BE's, etc are not hurt. I cannot post a link since it was not answered on the forums, I was talking to 2 CSR's. Basically they said that the defense cap of +125 cannot be exceeded by SEA's or food. You can reach that cap through skills or skill mods or food or a combination, but you cannot go over it. I am not sure where the info started that you could get 150 melee defense, etc from adding SEA's or food on top of your +125 natural skill modifier.

[01:43:43] Keldarin: Squad Leader bonuses are in full effect. They can take you beyond the caps.

This shows that the cap is applied to your raw modifier value.

It was stated by the devs, no I dont have a link at the moment, that SEA's can take you to 150, CSR's give out wrong information all the time, I would not trust a word they say.

Actually +125 is the hard defense cap. If you have +125 from skills and you add +25 with SEA's, you still only have +125 defense. I received an official statement that answered my question about this a couple weeks ago.

As I said before, the cap is ONLY for DEFENSE. SEA's can take you higher for other skill modifiers. If you're right that you can exceed +125 on defensive skills, that would negate their official statement about +125 being a hard defense cap back when they patched that into the game. Right now I will believe that, and the confirmation of that from 2 of their employees. However, if you show me another SOE employee saying you can exceed +125 in defense, I would be right with you.

Here are other links you can look at from correspondents and Keldarin again. It's debatable and unknown whether skill attachments increase above the 125, but squad leader bonuses, city bonuses and food bonuses do.
