Thread: It's been asked a million times but : Signature Help Please?

Been trying to make a nice looking signature. I read in another related post that you could simply go to make a new thread, type out what you want your sig to say, color and edit the wording as you want, go to 'edit as html' then simply copy and paste it into your profile where you signature goes.


Of course when I tried this and attempted to save changes to my signature, it says I don't have permission to use simple html. I know a tiny tiny bit about web editing and html, but not familiar with what this error message means. Any suggestions on a way around it or a simpler way to get my sig posted short of having to manually do all the html coding myself?

Yeah I tried to make a simple HTML signature yesterday and said was FORBIDDEN! I know they took out other HTML options because of sploiters, but common, can't have colored text?

The other day I changed my preferences, like the skin I was using and such. For whatever reason, it changed my signature. So I went into to change my signature, the simple way, by making it here on the forums, then changing it to html, coping and pasting it to my signature. Got the same message. Left it to another day, figuring forum bug. Retried....now heres the catch, its in the way you copy it now. After my response to the thread, came2 <div>'s then the rest of the signature, I had been coping the whole signature, finally I decided to leave those out....dropped down past the <div's> and it worked. I am by far no expert on this sort of thing, so try coping yours different ways, I bet it will work.

I had the same issues at first as well. I finally tried a myriad of different techniques as it seems some code is not allowed in the signature. If you tell me what you have tried, I may be able to help.

as for taking the spaces out between the lines, just copy and paste it into MS Word or an equivelent text editor that interprets HTML, then go to the end of each line and hit the "Delete" key (not backspace)

as it turns out i don't have MS Word anymore. Anyone know of a program that can be downloaded for free trial or something like that off of a site like downloads.com? Just need a very simple web design program, perhaps one with a graphical and html editor. That would be easy. Anyone know of one?

I simply used Wordpad, which can be found at Start > Accessories > Wordpad.

I tried but saw no way in Wordpad to convert text to html. Anyone know what other program is good and simple to use?
