Thread: Question on Tactics to soloing a Krayt/Elder.

This is not a "how can I be uber post" I'm just new to the whole "world of melee" After being a carbineer for the last year, I decided to switch to something new. My current template is:
TKM
Master Sword
Master Brawler
Fencer dabbler
Novice Medic
Any tips/suggestions on how to tackle one of these high end MOBs? Mostly Im looking for what moves would be best to use. Please include any food/drink that would be helpful to have as well. I still need to go weapon shopping, so I'm not tied down to any one weapon, tho Im assuming that a Powerhammer would be a good choice.
I appreciate all your help. Been playing since launch, and this is just one of those things I've never been able to do. Creating my own content.

I know. I just needed a change. And with everyone talking FOTM carbineer, I figured it was a good time to go.
That and TKM is alot of fun!

My alt is a TKM.. With him I just sit there and beat on the Krayts. It takes awhile and messes up your armor but there is always the chance of loot.

I'm almost the same template as you. I have some scout instead of the fencer. I use an ackley hammer on the elder. Try to draw her away from any other mobs, keep her intimidated, keep apply your bleed, and whack away on her mind. It usually take me 15min or so to kill one.
Pretty much the same thing for a krayt. I can't remember ifI use the hammer or a scythe, since it's been a while sinceI hunted them.

it is very simple buff up eat 2 ahrisa 1 brandy intimidate 2 and just spam headhitwith a power hammeron hit. when intimidate wears off use it again not hard at all. the reason you only drink one brandy is so you can have bluemilk as backup. if you are just doing it for loot just kill juvis forget about the others since it takes lik 3 mins to kill a juvi compared to 10 to kill a canyon.

if you want to solo them even easier just go this profession
master bralwer smuggler 0010 commando flame 4 pikeman(line with mitigation 2 in it cant remember) get a nightsister lance with health desease
then you intimidate hit it a few times withthe nightsister lance to apply desease thenflame 1 flame 2 flame 1 cone feign death and when the flame dot stops stand up reapply flame dot and feign again. this is so simple it can almost be afk macroed lol

ive been a mswords for awhile so here goes.
keep in mind this is how i do it and there may be better ways but this is mine.
1) first get some 80% kinetic resit comp armour encuberance sliced.
i prefer encumbrance slice becuase it allows me to heal faster and another 10% is not enough
2) then find a master doc to buff ya. and pay the 15k for the best u can get. the higher the secondariesthe better
3) i use brandy that is 390/ 44.5min/49filli can drink 2 and as they run out imidiatly drink 2 more
4) also bring along some canape. it always helps when your mind is getting low just give it a little boost in healing speed.
5) bring along some pixie and some moun just incase
almost forgot 3-4 stacks of high end stim b's
now the preperation is ready for the fight
6) set up a looping macro that will 2hmindhit2, and intimidate every 10sec or so. this will keep it intimidated and that is good,,
7) and then just go for it with 2hmindhit3--concentrate all your damage to the mind unless someone else is trying to steal looting rights then go for 2hmelee3 for most dam..
8) make sure you stay close to your adversary thats why you got the kinetic res armour. i hear that all you need is boots, chest, helmet and gloves to be fully protected(something to do with the armour hole bug) so only wearing these 4 will lower the encumberance on your secondaries even more,
9) as far as what wepon to use its simply a matter of dps and damage resist. examine whatever mob u are killin and check resist. power hammer does blast and scythe does kinetic, use both and estimate which one is doing the most damage the fastest...
10) have fun
using this i have solo'd almost every high end mob in the game ...it just takes time

I'd love to go kill Krayt dragons but even when I've gone with a Krayt hunting group I think I've only ever seen one that wasnt from the Scythe quest. Dunno what the deal is but even Juveniles are just not to be found.

This is all well and good for causing damage to these uber enemies, but how about tactics on staying alive? Attempting to take down something with over 100k HAM does take forever, usually enough time for me to have died like 10 times probably. I'm always seeing players who take on elders suffer VERY little to no damage at all, where as I end up with an empty HAM pool in 2 attacks 
I have the buffs, the food and the intimidate 2 with master tka/swordsman. What is the error of my ways?

I solo Krayts and Nightsister Elders all the time in hope of getting me some nice loot, not much luck though, lol, but thats another story.
Anyway as for Krayts I would suggest just wear good armor and get buffed, mindbuffed, then just intimidate2 and cave its head in.
I doubt you will be able to do sufficient damage to get looting rights before a rifleman starts blasting it though.
Elders are another story, now they can cause bleeds exceeding 3000 damage a tick (distrbuted on all primary stats). So again, get buffed, mindbuffed, wear 90% armor preferably with some stun protection, elders pull stun batons from time to time. Medic first aid 2 or above is a must (to get the /firstaid command that stops bleeds) otherwise you will be as dead as Elvis the first time one of those nasty bleeds lands. I would even go with first aid 4 because at first aid 2 you need to do the /firstaid a LOT of times before the bleeding stops.
The good thing about elders is they are no longer as camped as they were before they got their voodoo back so more than likely you will have it all to yourself.
The bad thing about your template is you will have a hard time trying to pull the elder without agroing the rest of her group, but I am not sure about that one since I dont have much experience pulling mobs without my rifle. Im master rifle/TKA and as you might or might not know riflemen can pull mobs without agroing anything else but their target as long as they are far enough away.
