Thread: Novice Bounty Hunter What Do I Do With It?
I'm not a power gamer, so it took me over 2 months, but finally made Master Scout, Novice Ranger& Novice Bounty Hunter! This all happened last night, lol. Wow, what a rush! This wookie is happy!
Novice Ranger has some nice skill enhancements. Is it worth pursuing over the others?
The question, as I'm sure it's been asked many times before, is what's next? I have plenty of credits, but skill points are almost gone. I had to sacrifice all my Artisan skills except for Domestic 1 (I'm not giving up making food or my Generic Crafting Kit). I also gave up Novice Carbineer because Bounty Hunter has its own carbineer column. 125,000 carbineer points down the tubes, lol. Elite Carbines seem to suck, though and I still have 38K ofcarbine xp I can use in BH tree.
I gave up Novice Brawler & Novice Entertainer, too.
I have Novice Medic and First Aid 2 and I hate to give that up. Healing is quick. I also like using T21 Rifle (Novice Rifleman) and DX2 Pistol (Novice Pistoleer).
I'm also a Novice CH at Taming2 and Training 1 (soon to be 2). I love using my pets and I sure don't want to give that up. Are droids better? Do Bounty Hunters need to use droids to be good?
Also, how good is the Light Lightning Cannon? Its stats don't look so hot. Is the electricity damage what makes it better?
And finally, I'm a neutral and I'm not a member of any PA yet. Don't know if I want to be. I did all this mostly by myself and my house is in an area surrounded by mean aggro animals to keep the soliItude, lol.
Any guidance from those who walked this way before would be appreciated.

I probably made Nov BH a couple weeks ago, finally decided to try playing one.
I have Nov Ranger and the Field Bioscience tree (I'm a Hunt Master), but that's about the only thing outside of BH, so I had the skill points for it. As I haven't trained Nov CH, I have Scouting XP to spare now. I made a good living selling hides, but I will probably have to surrender these skills someday. I don't know that anything Ranger is worth it right now, it is all just 'more Scout'. I have a char who is 7 boxes from Master Ranger on Kettemoor, and it doesn't seem to matter.
I don't see why you want to keep Nov Artisan(?). Use /forage to get food for your pets, or buy it with your "plenty of credits", really, those 20 Skill Points will be better used elsewhere.
Yeah, I surrendered Entertainer and a couple boxes in that, too.
I have Nov Medic + FA3, I have Diag1 (will go someday) and Pharma1 (I may go to Pharma3 to use some low Med Use Stim-C's instead of B's, not sure what will heal more).
Probots will probably not be better than pets, even adv ones with double Armor 4 modules (medium armor rating and 40% resists) because they only have 800 HAM -- I don't use them myself, it'd be an expensive habit =)
I use faction perk pets to take down my marks. I would go Rebel since you're an alien species and save up enough for 3 Senior troops of some sort. I have 2 Storm Commandos and 1 Stormtrooper Medic, and we've done 15 marks together so far. Perks will heal while in the datapad, or you can stim them (they seem to take very little Mind damage, so it works out well). I know people on my server who just use bleed shots and dance in & out of the mark's range, so that can succeed as well. If you get BH Pistol 1, Bleed Shot is a Mind pool bleed. Give your target a Mind Shot 1/Mind Shot 2/Bleed Shot and he will wear down quick. BH Pistol 2's Eye Shot is a Mind attack that hits for OVER 600 for me with a Scatter Pistol that's 111-150 dmg or so, sliced.
I only have the LLC from Vader at the Emporer's Retreat. It's stats are horrible, it is only good for getting difficult missions (the game thinks it's uber).
OK, to sum up: if anything, keep the 2nd tier weapon skills like Pistoleer. I would have kept Carbineer if I were you, sorry.Keep your healing powers as long as you can. Keep CH if it seems like your pets help enough with marks, otherwise lose it (I know it will hurt) and get faction perk pets, or wait till they make marks easier. Lose Artisan. Lose 2nd tier weapon skills later if you need to (I do not have any profession ending in "-eer").
Prolix, love your post, thanks so much for the insights.
I like novice artisan because I make camp kits, not just food, with the generic crafting tool.
If I could make camp kits without generic crafting took, Novice Artisan is gone. I can buy food.
I also think I might have made a mistake giving up novice carbineer. Gonna have to kill a bunch of critters to get the 86K I need to get it back, lol.
Oh well, I'll get a lot of scouting xp doing that and I can use that to get Wayfaring 2. One thing I love is running fast and not being seen.
Maybe Ranger is how I should go . . .
Pick up CH and or/ medic. Medic is a must for a BH if you ask me. Get at least FA 2 for bleeds and I think diagnosis 1 (so you can use stim b's). Don't bother trying to make stim b's... many people make better ![]()
I was 0341 asa BH (an I have the BH points for investigation 3), but I just enjoyed CH too much so I gave it up.... Having a pet is nice to tank for you as an early BH until you get your skills down. Especially as a wookiee... you get nice CH bonuses. Be warned that some BH 'purists' may frown on this. ![]()
You can also dabble in pistoleer/carbineer, or even get novice commando to fly through Heavy Weapons XP.... the possibilites are endless.
Congrats! The 40K grind was a bear. Enjoy BH and good luck.
Novice Scout with a generic crafting tool makes camps - no need for atisan
And to add more... the LLCgets betterafter LLC 1. Otherwise, it's crappola... that's why I suggested getting commando so you can use their pistol (can't remember what it's called - looks like a big hair dryer)for heavy weapons XP. Get the Heavy Weapons XP while using all your pistol shots.
With CH training 2, you can get a GSP... very good tank.
Forget the rifle... useless for any skill tree as a BH. Sad but true.
Ter, excellent advice.
I think I love using my pet tanks too much to give CH up. But if I don't, I won't have the xp to get much in BH. Dunno, I'll just have to keep doing what I'm doing and see what happens.
That's part of the beauty of SWG. You can kinda just do your thing and you'll end up being what's best for you.
Only real mistake I think I made was giving up Novice Carbineer. If I don't do BH, I think I have to grind about 86K of carbine xp to get it back. Full Auto 2 and Action 2 made carbines killers.
Perhaps I'm where I need to be right now, after I get Novice Carbineer back. Should only take me a week to get Novice Carbineer back and maybe that's what's meant to be until the SWG expansion packs.
Again, thanks for the advice!
Evil, if I read my skill sheets right, you have to have Novice Artisan to operate a Generic Crafting Tool. Hence my need for Novice Artisan.
Please let me know and thanks.
Orge, this may sound strange, as long as I've played, but how do you make a camp and craft without a Generic Crafting Kit? It is a command, like a shooting ability, such as /healthshot1?
But in this case, would it be /highqualitycamp?
Let me know and thanks.
