I hated the new inventory as well....... That was till I found this link.
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=csystems&message.id=47902&highlight=inventory#M47902
All it said is this:
Open up your inventory.
Click on "change view".
Click on the "volume" tab. (top of the last column)
Click on "change view" again.
Ta-da! You now have an inventory that behaves exactly like it did before 11.5.
Update: It seems that this works best if you click on "Name" before clicking on "Volume." Also, you usually have to log out after you do this. When you log back in, the backpack will behave 'normally'.
Now here I need to give props to Starcloud, community advisor for the originalpost.
Hope this helps you as much as it did me.

/bump 5* mate. Finally, no need to actually find new items in your inventory, they will now be at the bottom again.
Nice one!

Works for me
. Now if only there were a way to do the same for the waypoint listing in the datapad, which I personally find to be an even more annoying issue.

Heh. Actually, I posted it here, too, with a little more information.
What I've found out since then is that the inventory will re-sort itself when you sell ship components to thechassis dealer. The only way to counter it seems to be to keep your inventory window open while selling to the chassis dealer.
Another way of preventing your inventory from re-sorting itself is to /logout with the inventory screen open. This seems to cause the current sort to 'stick' and make it less likely to randomly re-sort itself.

thx for the info .. as starcloud said .. it's still a little random, if it works or not ..
I would like to see a timestamp implemented, which is set when an item is added to your inventory.
So you can sort after the timestamp and it'll behave like it did before 11.5 or even better, cause before 11.5
there was already some kind of randomness in sorting. New looted items were added to the end, but
after relog it was some kind of random.

And a special thanks to Starcloudfor the added information AND the original information. I posted this as there was a 115 responce thread raging about the problem & thought this could help some.

Option #2 to the inventory problem is to learn the American Alphabet.
