First of all I didn't know what forum to post this in, but here goes.
I know that they stopped doing the daily server resets (omg i wish they wouldn't have) and I did do a keyword search on 'server resets' but I didn't see anyone talking about if/when there are times that a server reset is more LIKELY to happen than other times. I know that they do a server reset every 3 weeks to shift the village of aurillia phase, but is this the only time we can expect a server reset for sure? Is there not any other time, like once a week maybe that they do a server reset anymore ?
I mean I'm trying to do the @#$#^@$@$ mark of altruism badge ALL WEEKEND and i've been crusing around all the wp's from the game guide and even a wider area south of mos taike for about 24 hrs total now and NOTHING. What am I doing wrong?
I know they'll probly have a server reset tomorrow morning to shift the village, but unfortunately because I have to work to support myself and to pay for my account every month, I will not be able to have first crack at it, and some other loser will probly find the moisture farmer first.
(as you can see I'm a bit exasperated)
Soif anyone has some ideas on when server resets are likely (other than village shifts), or how to find the moisture farmer, that would be great!

From what I've seen server resets come at the normal time they just don't come every day. Those times are intended to be when the least players would be affected by their respective servers so they are not likely to change except in case of emergency.

It took two weeks to find the farmer with my combat toon but only 2 sec to find him with my crafter. The crafter was not looking for the farmer. She was checking her harvestors and he was walking by.

I logged outnear the area where the moisture farmer supposedly spawns, and when logging in the next day he was about 30m from me. Also, if he is anything like the Wild Bladeback Boar, there could be more than one spawn going at once. Once you speak to the moisture farmer he generally respawns in the same area in the next 10-20 minutes or so, so if you do find him be sure to send the wp to a friend who hasn't done the quest.
He does tend to wander a lot also, so it may be that there is always a spawn going somewhere, but it might not be anywhere near any of the known spawn spots.
Hope this helps.

He really loves to wander - and wander far too... I found him the first time just abour 1k meters south of Mos Taike (in that valley) - then I found it a second time while driving from Mos Taike to Bestine only about 1.5k meters away from Bestine - and I found it a second time even closer to Mos Taike in the hills...
So your best bet might be to drive slowly from Mos Taike towards Bestine while having your overhead map open - he shows as white spot there - he does not show on the radar...

i found all of the hero spawns in less than 30 minutes. what i did was take the waypoints given in the hero quest guide, in this forum, and pick out the four corners of the waypoints. so i have a grid to work on.. .on my panetary map the four waypoints make a square.... anyway, i traversed this area and seemed to find them easily. try zigzagging and not traveling from waypoint to waypoint.
as far as the pirates are concerned, the only problem i had was finding them bugged often. if you KD/Dizzy them, they are bugged until server reset.

great, thanks for all the responses! I'll try walking to bestine (since i've been doing the grid thing, zig-zagging for well over 24 hrs if I add up each session that I've tried).

if you cant find him from given waypoints. Start from those wp's and head to bestine. I found him walking in that direction and not by chance either. I found information from the forums that he will sometimes walk in that direction if left alone for too long.
