Just wanted to know.
Lance Corporal 400
Corporal 800
Sergeant 1200
Staff Sergeant 1600
Staff Corporal 2000
Warrant Officer II 2500
Master Sergeant 3000
Warrant Officer I 3500
2nd Lieutenant 4000
Lieutenant 5000
Captain 5000
Major 5500
Lt. Colonel 5500
Colonel 6000
you need a total of 46200 faction points to have Colonel rank and still have 200 points left as a minimun
I have Rank of Colonel and when I ask for a promotion: You allready have obtained the hightest rank!
that list you saw includes ranks from the Expanded Star Wars where a Surface Marshall is the highest rank.
Who knows that SOE includes more ranks later, but right now, Colonel is the highest...
There shouldnt be any SMs running around doing normal missions.
A Rebel SM is that MonCal guy or some others. You get too many SMs and it ruins continuity. On the other hand you can have as many colonels and below, no one will care.
So there ya go, its a LucasArts decision.

What perks are there if you get higher ranks and what does it mean? I was getting a couple promotions nd it doesn't seem worth it..

You can store more points as you raise through the ranks, dunno the formula for this but goes like "points you payed" x 10 or so.
You can also trade faction points with a better rate, i think at Colonel you just lose 18% of points transferred, while being a recruit giving 100 means losing 500 i think.
