Would help to know what you have now.

But if your budget is anything under $500,
I dont think you need much help.
Not sure what the price of the top of the line vid card is,
But I am sure its under $500.

I have a GeForce 6800 GT, you really need a good comp to complement it though (not sure what you are running.)

All I have to say is shadows enabled are COOL and add a whole new sense of immersion.

ATi 9600 PRO all the way. 9800 there is no advantage, i Run in 1600x1200 resolution with no lag and all graphic options turned up to max usually with little to no problems, if i am in a large battle or something, i usually turn the options down to reduce lag, but it works great cruising the countryside

Iv got a ATi Radeon 9600XT, barton 2800 and a gig of pc3200 ram.. i run mine in 1280x1024 with all options turned off and it lags really bad sometimes. Dant MO being worse than coro now

If you want a really good gfx card the ATi Radeon x800 XT PE is the way to go.. itll set u back a fair whack of cash but it really is the dogs.

Maybe not in this game but when considering a graphics card you have to think to the future, a bit i would bag a x800 radeon my self.

My set up though is a AMD FX53, Radeon X800 XT, 2gb ram in a nutshell

BFG GeForce 6800 Ultra OC 256MB AGP Graphics Card

I had the BFG FX4000 128 MB card, and upgraded to this bad boy this weekend. I never knew how much I was missing from this game. I can crank up all the textures and graphic options and never get below 22 FPS. I also added two pci fan on each side of the videocard to help it's massive onboard fan. You won't be sorry. The BB site says out of stock, but the local store had shelves of them.

Enjoy

***Edit*** After reading the Tech Support boards I would stay away from and ATI product if your going to be playing SWG, and since your posting this on the SWG site I can make a pretty good assumption that you are. I have no personal experience with ATI, but based on what I am reading on the Support Boards ATI is having problems lately with SWG.

Radeon X800 Pro. its not as power hungry or as heat intensive as the 6800 nvidia's.

I always used to be an Nvidia card person until i got the X800.

it rocks

The biggest difference for me wasnt upgrading the graphics card it was upgrading the harddrive to one of them western digital raptor 10,000 rpm things, that made HUGE difference, to the fps and the loading times.

and ati cards been no good for this game, what are you on about....

whats weird is honestly, i barely ever ever ever experience lag. My setup is a 3 ghz pentium 4 512 cache, 1 gig ram ddr400 dual channel, 36 gig raptor 10k rpm serial ata hard drive, ati radeon 9600xt card (geniune ati, not oem or aftermarket).I normally run 1280x1024 resolution with most of the graphics turned up, minus like the water settings and screen shake and such.

If you honestly want to improve SWG get a better processor and better and more Ram. Video card will not improve SWG at all. I have a 6800 ultra card and it improved NOTHING.. trust me processor and ram will make the difference if you talking about SWG

i gotta 100% agreee. ram and processor mean everything.

For around $750, you can get the New 3ghz 1meg cache Pentium Chip, With the Intel 925 Chipset mothrboard, with 1 gig of 533 ram, and a serial ata 10k hard drive. The game runs BEAUTIFULLY with those specs. Make sure to get a Intel Brand motherboard, not asus, aopen, etc etc. I work in the computer field, and sell/service hundreds of computers a week. and it is EXTREMELY rare for me to EVER see a intel motherboard go bad unless there is a power surge or something physically happens to the tower. They work great, other brands it seems i am sending in a RMA for them all the time lol
