Thread: SWG supposed to be multiplayer.....

you're absolutly right,a few hours ago,a guy wouldn't want to go on a hunt because there were 2 newer people in it,come on,that's weak. And the solo cave/quest/base or whatever thing is idiot.

Guess we'll just set our hopes on the combat revamp...

There are many reasons why solo groups exist as they do. The main one is the ability to quickly generate large amounts of credits without the hassle of hunting in a normal group. Another valid reason is the loot system and how messed up it is. Why group up with 5-6 people only to have the one or two who run loot macros get anything worthwhile. And before you throw the "get people you trust" line at me, all the people I did trust have quit the game, and without that solid foundation of group hunts to get to know someone, it isn't very easy finding replacements.


2.Newbies are treated rather badly.Its as if peeps see your droid and run for the hills!What these people forget is that we were all newbs at one point.Ive been playing since its release last year and almost gave up until the cheaters were caught and a combat revamp.


This game is just like real life, perhaps more than you would like. Just as you find people who ignore others with problems in the real world, you'll find them ingame.


3.Sorry a TKA shouldnt be able to knockdown a Rancor.It looks lame.The knockdown should only be for humanoids only.That will partly solve the problem of solo missions.


Knockdown isn't the problem. It is area attacks that allow you to defeat 5-10 mobs at once that make solo groups so easy.


4.Higher xp only for a group and no xp if your not within 100m of enemy,or target.


You only get additional xp if your grouped already, and you don't get any unless you actually do some damage, so the comment about 100m doesn't make sense.


5.Buffs, cut them in half


Actually buffs aren't the problem, armor is. Go hunt something without armor and with buffs and you will find your hams dropping very fast.


6.Special costs should stay in place thus the need for medics an docs.


So in essence you want to go back to the way things were before buffs became popular, i.e. long periods of downtime between fights, sitting in camps healing and chatting? Well guess what, you still can, but don't force the rest of us to play the way you like.


7.Bring back permadeath for Jedi or at least xp an skill loss.Way too many jedi running around.What happen to Vader hunting down and destroying the jedi knights?


Do you even know how the old skill loss system worked? If you died 3 times in a set period of time, you would lose a skill box. Now I don't know about you, but if I died 2 times, Mr. Jedi would go on the shelf until such time it was safe to play again. As for permadeath, it was removed because of two reasons, technical problems that SOE can't fix, and griefing which seems very common in games such as this. Because of this, it won't make a come back.


8.Play jedi hardcore you get one death.That will thin the ranks out so only the best jedi survive.


And all it takes is one a-hole griefer to ruin your game. Not going to happen.


9.Since they are switching to a quest system for jedi,you die you lose your status as jedi and your previous skills you had before jedi are restored.


Ever play a FPS game without any save points?I would imagineyou didn't because no developer would make a game that sent you back to start everytime you died because nobody would play it.


10.Once you join one of the factions Imp or Rebel,you cant switch.you can leave , but you cant go to the other side.People are switching sides by simple buying FP online or trading FP.Trading is ok ,buying your points isnt.Its akin to cheating cause i would need to spend time lowering one faction an getting another up.Wanna switch sides?create a new character.Better yet once youve been coss indexed as one faction or another,you cant switch.


Why is this such a big deal? On my server on guild in particular switches sides whenever things get too uneven. This makes the game fluid and allows for things to change rather than staying the same.

11.Need more faction points awarded for a group and less if your solo.

12.same for xp

13.Increased xp penalty if you choose an alien an join the empire.(except Zabrak of course)


no comment on 11 and 12, but 13 is already in game. You seem to think the way to make more people want to play a game is to make it a pain to play, and I must say, I think your really, really wrong.


14.No character should be able solo caves,quests,etc.


Why not? Not everyone has a group just waiting for them to log on. What about those poor newbs you mentioned above who don't have friends?


15.Wanna make the creatures harder?add stun resistance.Surprisingly most creatures have none.

These are but a few thoughts ive had in the last few days after goin over a few forums.Oh yes one more thought,to the wannabe hackers /cheaters/dupers im thrilled your caught and i applaud SOE for the great job theyve done and are doing.Because of that fact im renewing my account for another year.Keep up the good work guys!


Well that sure would make carbineers, tkm, swordsmen, pikemen, jedi, CM, CH and commandos jobs tougher as they don't have stun weapons, but oh well.

I know what it feels liek to have a thread run down, and it doesn't feel good, but honestly though....you must not have put much thought into what you said. And as forthe newb thing, everybody always picks on the new guy. Your also right about the knockdown with rancors...I mean...thats physically impossible....the rancor must way like ten thousand pounds, the average human weighs 150 pounds.................................THERES NO FREAKIN WAY IN HELL A HUMAN COULD KNOCKDOWN A RANCOR! For those who don't belive me, go to the zoo, find an elephant, and try to push it over......IT AINT GONNA HAPPEN! im startinga new thread on this sort of thing...

lol, all I have to say is learn how the game works currently before telling them what they should do because a lot of what you just said is already in the game. also, KDing a Rancor? honestly what good does that do? prevent a whole 10 damage?

this game isn't based on any reality we know. the first tip off is the weapons that shoot beams of light, or the fact that i can carry 50 houses in my back pack.

so, bringing up our reality is not really relevant.

There are a few things about this that is troublesome so here we go-

you know why we run from newbies ? because they beg for cash ... everyone was a newbie once but when i was a newbie I earned my own money..

and remember, this is also a rpg game.. some people are more loners than others..... hunting in big groups is nothing but chaos

I think you should also add that there should be no penalty for harvesting in a group. For me that is the number one reason why I never join a group unless I have no other choice.

So, what you're really saying is... you want the Combat Balance before Jump to Lightspeed, right?

Because that's what's going to solve nearly all of the problems you described (I can guarantee you that adding spaceships isn't going to solve any of them).


Given that, I'm glad to hear that you intend to put your money where your mouth is and will be boycotting JtL until the Combat Balance is completed... right? I mean otherwise you're just blowing smoke up our asses.

I just went on a group hunt yesterday, and it was fun! It was a krayt dragon hunt and we started it in Coronet. Of course, there are no missions for krayts, but what they hey. They drop good loot, and are hard to kill, so it is fun.

Off all the things you say, IFULLY agree with the solo-groups :people should NOT be able to make a million per hour when soloing. That's killing EVERYONE's experience, because these people have a big impacton the economy.
