The following are various tips to help you with your FS exp grind:

If you're ever calculating how long it is until you're done exping, do it in trips to the village, include village time, time to shuttle there and back, make a full run and time it using your inspiration buffs.

Always get an inspiration buff... youll be done 10% faster... if its supposed to take you 100 hours to grind it out... you'll be done in 90.. theres always entertainers in the MO on Dantooine... so why not go there.

Have 3 professions so you can cap out combat exp, my current setup is TKM, Mpistoleer and a bit of Carbineer with 1 branch capped so I can get 1.2mill carbines exp. Why Teras Kasi Master, instead of something more ranged like rifleman or bh? Easy... Teras Kasi innate armor makes it so I go through NO ARMOR. I don't ever have to worry about the condition of my armor because its always tip top. I recommend this for anyone who doesn't have 10 mill to turf on their FS grind. For those of you who do have the extra 10mill, I'd probably change to Mrifles, Mcarbines, 3 branches of pistoleer... or whatever else.

Always go into groups full of CL80's... Jedi if you can who are going to dirvish, but if you can't.. CL80's will be just fine. If you get lower CL's... like cl 50 and below, your missions will get bugged *proven as far as I can tell*, this also doubles as a useful grinding tool.. you kill things way faster than you would with a bunch of half templated people.

Get your missions on Dantooine for Bols if you're in a weak group, and pikets if you're in a bigger group with strong people. Pikets are social and will all jump in, but there are more of them... make sure the mission difficulty is 81+ or you will get weaker missions...that aren't going to offer the same full exp. Full exp is good exp .

This isn't a tip so much as it is an example of what I do... I cap carbines exp at 1.2mill and pistols exp at 1.2mill, and then switch to TKA to get 600k unarmed exp. I stop at 600k because at that point my combat exp will reach 300k. You can get the last 600k... but I find melee exp is more boring, harder to get, lame... pointless... and even at TKM my unarmed sucks anus. But this is just what I do, I don't know if its best.

If you have a tip feel free to submit it, thanks for readin.

Problem is this, i am kinda stuck atm due to respec on eclipse being GONE, i am a master pistoleer, 2-4-4-4 bh and a 0-4-0-0 smuggler. the reason is that from what i understand the 3 bh branches give good bonuses to any ranged weapon which supplements my pistols, and i have the slicing so i can help my guild a bit and get my weapons better power or speed, now, do you think this is a decent template btw, i am cl 77 atm due to me being spread out like this, i am getting artound 10 or 11k xp during double exp week on pikets, but i am not sure if this is the best template, i would think about changing but i wont wanna spend all my exp in getting something else that it takes longer to get my fs boxes i started a while ago but i have been very slow in my progress, and when i mean slow i mean like i think i made my first trip to the village anywhere from 3 to 2 weeks ago and i only have novice combat and reflexes..............yea..... its pathetic........sad.......and un excusable, its looking like i could spend a year doing the fs grind (shutters and convulges at the thought), anyway if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

Personally I would never intentionally gimp myself by choosing a non-Jedi melee profession.

Melee post CU sucks bawlz. Period. You pick the critter or NPC and I will outkill you every single time.

You defeated your own argument about armor if you think about it. You are running missions for XP .. those missions also have a payout in credits. Those little payouts add up very quickly, no way your armor needs replaced before you have earned more than enough to pay for it.

I guarantee you can find armor on your server for around 500k/suit. It won't be the best on the server but it will give you more than enough protection to grind out xp.

Even if you're buying faction armor you're talking about what .. ~ 2mill each with another 600k - 800k to bio link it (assuming you buy your faction from a smuggler like most impatient peeps do.)

Innate armor is no reason to gimp yourself with melee IMO.

Soon, I discovered, that this force thing was true,
Exar Kun was the devil,
Vader was an architect previous to his career as a Sith,
All of a sudden I found myself in love with the Empire,
So there was only one thing that I could do,
Was, ding-a-ding dang my dang-a-long ling long

i have a hard time believing that you could outkill any melee profession. What kind of damage are you doing?

Using an Advanced Laser Rifle I hit in the 600's with normal shots and 1200 - 1500 with specials, you will see high crits go over 2000, if they're below level 80 and I KD them, Advanced Critical Shot can do incredible amounts of damage .. I never use PUPs PvE as I think it's a waste of a good weapon. My rifle is speed sliced so my damage range is not as high as it could be. I have a bandolier fitted with +25 rifle speed/+25 rifle accuracy (because i'm not a rifleman) . My rifle is also not as big as it could be as I had it made spur of the moment using components collected in a hurry. I also have the added benefit of being able to root them at 65 meters, very few NPC's can hit you at that range as most carry carbines these days. Creatures are a joke at range, you can kill literally hundreds and take zero damage using good tactics. Give me a true top end rifle and I might be able to drop 2 before the melee can drop 1.

Even the official patch/release notes will tell you that ranged professions pump out more damage than melee. It's SOE's vision of the game not mine.

I miss melee, I was originally TKA with a few boxes from random professions for variety. I kept TKM as long as possible during the holo grind, the few times I had to give up TKM I always went back and re-trained it. My final template after the holo grind was a Defense Stacker (TKM/M Fencer/M Brawler) for pure PvP purposes. It sucks that I have to be Jedi now to be truly competitive as a melee.

As the original poster stated in his original post (defeating his title claim of how to make the FS go THAT MUCH FASTER) melee is harder, not as fast, and all around boring. I think what he meant to say was : you can do the FS grind as melee but you are dependant on large groups. I solo a LOT and I make a ton of xp. I regularly hunt Gorax for bones .. solo. I also hunt Krayts solo. How many melee do you see killing either of those?

Here's another one for you to think about, why is it when most melee peeps have to kill an extremely hard mob or NPC they switch to a Laser Rifle and kill it at range?

If you have a melee on Bloodfin or Ahazi i'm all for a little friendly competition. Log on and let's go Gorax hunting or maybe an Ancient Krayt .. we can do normal mission mobs, but where's the fun in hunting things that have no chance of killing you (well .. unless you're melee)? at the worst we'll have a some fun killing things that you aren't supposed to be able to solo.
