Ouch, don't scare the guy. You'll start over on the wait, meaning you'll have to get another visit from the old man (another 1 - 3 days). He'll give you a new crystal, then you have to fight the Sith again. You don't have to start over with getting glowy.
I still don't want to know why the crystal is bloody though. EW! 
sorry... i was agitated(sp?) at a space mission that i cant get done with....
The old man came to me, talked about some stuff, and told me to hang on to a crystal. i looked in my inventory and right clicked it, and it had 1. Use 2. Examine 3. Destroy
My question is what does the use part do(clicked it and it sat there), and what do i do now that he gave it to me?
The use part simply opens the log. (The crystal is just a log anyhow)
After you get the crystal, Sith will come and attack you as long as you aren't in one of the main cities. If the sith incap you, they steal your crystal (they are CL75 and 77 but tougher together naturally). If you beat the sith, you loot a datapad from them. This part sucks because it may just be the most bugged part of the game. I've done it 6 times (and beat the sith 5 of them) and each time the datapad doesn't work.
