Thread: Is ranged defense worthwhile?

The only quests i need to unlock my last two branches are ranged defense and melee accuracy. I already have four lines unlocked that i want to pick up and ranged speed that i have unlocked but probably wont use. What i want to know is, after phase three when i'm going to get melee accuracy will it be worth it to wait till phase three rolls around again to get ranged defence or should i skip it and do ranged speed instead?

Ranged Defense is the only FS skill that I really 'use'.

The only ones I really think will help are melee and ranged defense, Melee acc, and melee speed the other 2 are just fodder. I took ranged speed and vehicular control as well. It does help though

Well if i dont do the ranged dfense(it's only +12 right?) cant i go with BE clothes that give +6 ranged defense, wear two and cap at 25? That would make up for it, and i dont know how much a difference i'd see without +12 ranged defense

Not if you plan on wearing your padawan robes. And ranged accuracy/speed does help with Jedi ranged attacks, although +12 isn't much these days.

So it's worth waiting 18 weeks to get padawan for ranged defense?

Also, you can always unlcok a filler tree and unlcok Padawan and go back 18 weeks later and do Ranged Defense.

Personally I have unlocked Ranged Speed, Ranged Accuracy, Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy (well, will do next phase), Melee Defence, Ranged Defence, Vehicular Control and Luck.


Why? you may well ask...


Well I'll tell you my cunning plan - Going to train all the combat ones up to unlock Padawan. I'm a ranged prof so the extra ranged speed and accuracy will help when I take on Mel (only trained Ranged Speed so far and it has made a noticiable difference, but I did pass the 130 speed threshold with it so that was to be expected).


Once I have Padawan and done my trials I'll use my banked xp to get Vehicular Control and Luck and then drop Ranged Speed and Accuracy as I will no longer need them.


The ranged and melee defence will always be useful, and the melee speed and accuracy should help a bit with the early LS grind.

So which would be better for a Powers jedi if you had to choose one?

Get whatever gets you jedi quicker. You can always change your FS skills later (jedi xp converts 1:1 to FS). Just make sure you add the new FS skills before removing any. (Basically NEVER get to below 6 branches)
