Like if I choose to do luck, and expirmation, and vehicular and a couple others. Is this going to make it hard for me to melee attacks and fight proficiently when I become a jedi? Or are the two not connected? Thanks!

Jedi have no armor and the begining Lightsabers are slow and inaccurate. It is benficial to have Melee Defense, Melee Speed, Melee Accuracy, and Range Defense.
The other two branches are optional.Survivor gives you some terrain negotiation and level 1 camps. Vehicle gives youfaster acceleration for quick getaways. Luck gives you more credits on kills (not loot) but a Padawan is not going to kill anything that drops credits because it will cause visibility on the BH terminals.

get your unlocks any which way you can the fs skills have no effect on jedi at all. melee defense would be the only one that has any remote effect

How would melee defense have an effect on being a jedi more than others?

because only the two defenses have any use and also work. nothing in melee speed or accuracy helps a jedi since they have LIGHTSABER speed and LIGHTSABER accuracy. crafting helps none either. as far as the ranged defense goes you can do without that sine the saber block is essentially the ranged defense for a jedi.
