Thread: another padawan template question

maybe this would be better suited for the jed. forum, but i see this kind of question here sometimes.....

With the CU coming, I am trying to decide on the non-jedi combat skills to round out my toon for the Jedi grind. So far I am a TKM and have 1 handed 4 in the brawler tree. (I also have Medic 2 x 4 x and scout3 x x x).
I would rather not spend too much time working on extra skills that I will have to drop really soon (im just waiting for lowca to shift before i unlock and start the trials).
Here's my question:

Master Brawler OR Fencer x 4 4 x

Taking the CURB into consideration, I would have to eventually choose between Fencer x 4 4 x and TKM, but would be able to keep M. Brawler and TKM. The HAM bonus from having a master elite combat prof looks to be beneficial after the CU. Taking these two things into consideration, my decision would be M. Brawler. Making my template at CU (I hope):

Saber x x 4 x

M. Brawler

TKM

Med 2 x 4 x

Scout 3 x x x

Would the Fencer defenses be worth the potential sacrifices I would have to make?

I confess I haven't read up on the CU as much as I should. I don't think you can predict what the best Jedi Grinding Template is right now. My only advice would be to go with whats best or what you want (for now) and be sure you have all your skill points allocated.

After the CU we will all get to reallocate our sps. My best hope is there won't be a "template" that works better than others. The idea of the CU was to make everything more balanced and to also make pve/pvp more balanced. A fencer should=pistoleer = rifleman = swordsman = carbineer = commando. Each should have strengths and weaknesses which while not the same should cancel each other out.

Having played MMORGS for 5+ years I know in reality that true balance will never occur. I just hope we can all still have fun.

My advice.. keep Master Brawler. The intimidate 2 is the most valuable thing you'll ever have over anything else while playing your Jedi. Unless/Until you go for Powers 3rd branch for the Force Intimidate power.

I can honestly say that this particular skill has been the most beneficial skill in the entire time i've played (beta 3 player onwards). You will survive almost any encounter if you make good use of Intimidate 2.
People will dispute this and say Int. 1 is just as good. However, would you prefer a skill that lasts 75 seconds or ~15 seconds? Not to mention that it stacks up too.
So while the Int. 1 user stacks up 10 to make around 150 seconds of Intimidate time. I use 4 and have around 300 seconds of intimidate time. HAM costs are the same for both skills since it's dependant on your weapon in hand.
How many times have i died since making Jedi?
Once. Because I lagged out and ended up unlagging after driving into and aggroing a giant canyon krayt Unavoidable death. Otherwise, i've never died. Something i'm rather proud of. And i owe it all to Intimidate 2.

hehe, well i wouldn't go so far as to call me experienced in the Jedi ways yet hehe. I'm still only at Novice Sabers.

However, i've been a Master Brawler from beta 3, every character i've played has that mastery, purely for Intimidate 2. I've played without it and often find myself in a jam, when i'm unbuffed. All it takes is a quick Int. 2 hit on each mob and presto, you're back in the game, and have the advantage again. If I could name a best skill in the game. Intimidate 2 would be that skill. I'm a defensive player over offensive. Thus i try to find the things that benefit my character in that respect. I don't stack combat professions in the ways others do. I rely solely on Intimidate 2. It does a job i find unique to the game, and without a doubt, a top job it is too.

There are other ways to help with other defenses. Food and Drink.
Pikatta Pie for the dodge. Tap this with Intimidate 2 and you really come into your own. I took on 5 Mountain Dewbacks unbuffed, with my 1st gen saber. Guess who won?
I would say that each Dewback got a total of about 4 hits on me before each was dropped. The Pie really does work wonders.
And thanks to Intimidate 2, those hits did all of about 20 damage

Don't leave home without it hehe.
