If so, Im a little scared.

The cap for weapons XP is 900,000 yes? So if that translates to 30,000 FS xp per-cap, and I can cap once per-buff at Master Swordsman, that means around 266 buff sessions to fill six full trees of FS? Heh, Im not moanin, just wondering if Im going to have to quit college and become a recluse in order to get one tree of Force Powers

Ah right, so if I grind hard, two to three buffs a day weekends and one a night weekdays, I could probably finish 'em off in about a month? I hear theres no cap on FS xp, so I was just planning to grind as much as I can before the CU and then unlock whichever trees are most useful then.

Not at 30:1 trade in. That is 30k plus the combat exp which is about 100k that tades down to round 20k fs= 50k fs xp per cap of profession in weapons. In a weapons cap you can buy a novice box.

What I had figured on was doing the 2 ranged trees(speed and accuracy), I also am getting Assembly and repair for crafting, as well as Survey and Luck for senses.

The senses tree I'm using merchant, and scout mainly, I do have some entertainer, but not enough to make a difference. So I'm not totally going out killing, and the scout is a second source of xp(or third rather, behine weapon and combat).

I have come to the conclusion that I won't get FS for some time, hopefully by the end of the year, but I will get there. I know I'm not the first, so I'm just going out and having fun doing what I want to do.

If your a single combat prof master, then you'll need to cap weapon xp 28 times during the 3 weeks of a phase to master each tree as your ready to unlock another. It goes faster if youpick up a second combat profession, with only 14 caps xp caps.

If your not interested in a second combat prof, grinding grenades will give you combat xp pretty fast. You can master an FS tree in 10 turn-ins if you cap combat xp before turning in. Before you start down that road though, remember this is a game, it's supposed to be fun. If you feel like your grinding, your doing something wrong.

Allow me to introduce you to my good friends, Mr. Thermal Det and his wife Imp Det. They're helping me with my FS XP grind. I'm banking approximately 350K FS combat XP per buff session (usually more). See your local weaponsmith for more info (be sure to grind commando 4000 first). With some good grenades and powerups you can change that from 266 buff sessions to 25.

Credits spent on buffs (judging from the buff prices on Bloodfin right now):

266 x 13k = 3458000

25 x 13k = 325000

3133000 credits saved on buffs (spent on grenades instead though, so it's a wash)

Time spend grinding

266 x 3hrs = 798hrs

If you play one buff session per day, that's obviously 266 days. Two per day will get you down to about 4 months, and three gets you down to about 3 months.

25 x 3hrs = 75hrs

Even with just one buff session per day, you're down to less than a month. Oh... and guess what happens in a little over a month? The combat upgrade. Good luck grinding out FS XP after that hits.

I have an idea...let's all quit are jobs, never get laid, have food delivered, never bathe, only go to the bathroom when your healing battle fatigue ('cmon. you know that's when you go!) and have a server that's nothing but jedi!....got to go...I have to take a piss before I take this chick out to dinner so I can get laid before work.

*sigh*

I was hoping to avoid the 'nade-grind, but when you break it down like that, it's really the only option to get it done before the CU

Thanks mate.

The way you need to look at it is...
You'll need to change your template anyway, once you reach Jedi. So why not just get used to changing it now, remove the attachments to certain professions you have. And go for commando to nade grind.

Once you hit Padawan, you can then get all your old skills back by putting them on your second char slot

It seems very daunting doing the grind without nades, and i wouldn't wish it on anyone. However, those that do it are doing a good job.
If you cap once a day, you will have enough xp for one whole branch of fs boxes every 3 weeks. So if you're only just starting, then the only thing nades will help out with is getting the xp banked faster. You'll still be gated by the 3 week phase shifts.
However, at least you won't need to grind more xp if you've got it all banked real fast

It's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Good luck, which ever way you decide to grind.

Glad I could help put things into perspective. Much like yourself, I thought long and hard before I decided to bite the bullet and do the nade grind. Once I crunched the numbers it just makes more sense to do it, get it over with, and get back to having fun. This is especially so with the impending combat upgrade.I'm nowhere near finishing my unlocks either. I'm just banking the XP so that once I'm finished unlocking I can train up and be done with it.

One way to make the "nade-grind" a little easier on your pocket, find some resources and get an equipment factory. Then find a WS willing to use your resources to make schematics you can then use in the factory.

You would have to jockey the parts in the factory but you would come out cheaper and wouldn't have to store so many resources.

This is what I do and I make a run of 100 every few days and I'm set. I mined the resources and the cost of the nades isn't all that much, just the pain on juggling the schematics, but I can make 3000 grenades with the schematics I have, and the resource usage isn't all that much.
