I'm on Dath and I can't use the mysterious datapad.. any idea?

Nah, I got my old man visit on Coronet, I got my sith visit on Dantooine, & the camp was on Dant too, Maybe the disc is one of those ones that simply can't be used, I got 3, the first 1 couldn't be used, the 2nd could & the 3rd i dropped.
Try using it on every planet, if not, I "think", you can drop it & wait for another attack, But don't quote me on that lol

if this is the datapad you looted of the first 2 sith shadows that attacked you after the old man, i'm pretty sure you have to be on the planet that the old man visited you on.
