Wasn't that an interesting post? I am just making a point....that appearantly those that flame the nade grind don't understand. It still takes the same amount of time to do it. You still unlock ~every 3 weeks. Doesn't matter how fast you get your xp the most time you will save is the last phase unlock...and that grind, but in the time allowed you could get enough weapons xp to do the same thing. Doesn't matter how you do it...same amount of time, same grind. No one wants to nerf the merchant xp exchange.......and all you have to have is a vendor...... no fighting....no nades...just a vendor and go cash in your points. How about scouts.....easy xp to get and to cap.....not nearly the exanchage rate problem as weapons xp...but I don't see anyone flaming the scouts. Or crafters.....get the resources, set up a macro...and poof xp out the ying yang....but still no flames. Heaven forbid I was a merchant comando artisian......according to most people I would be done in a week. Just food for thought, I really don't understand the problem with nade grinding, anyone can do it. There is no barrier except people decide not to.Think about it the next time you flame someone for nade grinding, jut because you don't want to change your template...doesn't mean you way is any better than theirs.

Paragraphs are your friend.

I agree with you 100%, and as the moron flamers start to pile up below my post, I will preface all you have to say with this:

I am not flaming nade grinding. If it suits you, go for it.

I am not fiscally able to sustain a nade lifestyle. That, and the TK skills I have picked up will come in handy with my paddy. Not that commando wont. It will. It is just a matter of taste, that is all it is.

Well good for you I say. I am happy to see you run up that grind hill fatser than most.. But one way our another your going to learn how to grind without nads.. SInce the day you get your saber you will no loger have them for use as a fast way up the hill. You will have to learn how to grind and fall in line with the rest of us..But your will be behind the curve and start off slowerthen the rest of thenone nad boom boom people.. So all thoses people you passed in the fs xpnad bOOM BoOm thing you will see them catch up to you and you will be tow and tow with them and then see them pass you since you have no skill on what or how or were to go to grind with a melee weapon.. So the point I am trying to make is that you think your getting thru this whole Jedi grind faster well your not..But I glady support your nad boom boom thing as it does help out other players.. I.E Weponsmith.. So Have fun..Makes lots of big booms and I will see you on the other side my fellow swg gamer..

Hmmm.... that was almost semi-supportive. I understand what you are saying and I agree wholeheartedly. If all you do is get a new character and take it to 4/0/0/0 commando, then yeah you would have problems with weapons, and pvp and even pve without nades. Im my case which is slightly different I suppose, I was Master Carbineer, Master Artisian, Master Merchant, Master Scout, Master Marksman, Master Brawler, Master Medic, TKM, Swordsman, Fencer, and Pikeman all at some point in my SWG life. I have the experience behind me. Commandois a new thing for me and I intendo to master it also before I drop it as jedi. Most of my time has been spent in UA combat in the middle of things as a tank (time spent in the DWB as a punching bag, or taking on a novatropper and a squad and kicking their butt, or taking out rancors, killing off NS, soloing k-dragons or taking out IMP bases in corriban, defending bases in virtually every rebcity)Not that I totally enjoy the nade grind, and that is exactly why I am doing it (less time grinding, more time playing. ) I know that the jedi on the othe side are going to say the fs grind is "easier" than the jedi grind....who cares...I will be a jedi when the time is right and I will have fun before I start "running" scared from bh's.

Regardless of how many jedi are on this server. 1. A jedi must be smart 2. A jedi must be tactful 3.A jedi must be patient

Makes no sense to grind out 900k of UA and 100 k of combat and waste a buff session to get 50 k when you can get much more by using the tools that the world offers. This is the system, and a smart jedi would use the most effective, efficient way of achieving a goal. At this point (before the CU) this is the most effective and efficeit way (besides credits, which I am not worried about) to do it.

Work out the cost from 0 FS exp to the 7.45mill required...

I worked out that if a crate of 25 grenades costs you 175k then the total cost to grind all that exp with grenades is about 16mill. I've since found a much cheaper source of grenades but it's still a lot of money.

Whereas grinding with any other profession is considerably cheaper but a lot lot slower.

yes it is...and that is one thing that is not taken into account by others.....you have to take the time somewhere to make the money to be able to grind. So really my grinding started when I sold my first swoop....which at this point has been a 8 month grind...plus the xp grind. Really there is no easy way, and there is not supposed to be. Just different approaches.

Only thing that will benefit you from TK is the med line really, best bet is to drop it all (except for med) and go for the fencer defense and sword. I have 2 pads ones a MTKand the otehrs Master Fence Master Sword. The the pad with just TK gets ripped and he has bio clothes, the MSword. MFence is a wookie so there is like NO bio that is really feasible for him and I have no trouble doing the same mobs the TK has trouble with, the dodge modifier for fence is aHUGE help and with some pikita pie you almost dont get hit at all. Dont forget all the melee toughness you get from TK is actually modified by your armor, once you lose that armor you toughness will actually drop. As we all know pads get no armor lol. Just alittle tidbit for you out there. Get Master Fenceatleast, the dodge modifiers and the state def is well worth it and if you tack on the melee def lines from the village your good.

NOBODY SAID WE WERE. In fact, the topic of this thread was detailing how we ARE NOT thinking we are going to get Jedi any faster, we are all just making more efficient use of our play time. Your whole post made a couple good points (for those that go straight to commando4xxx and that's it, grrr) but then a statement like this is said. Sheesh, I wonder if this guy even read the starting post at all...

I've said this a million times, it's so true that we could grind an entire FS branch if we capped once a day during a particular phase. Becoming a Jedi initiate takes the same time frame for everyone. We all know this, so stop bringing it up. (/slaps self for even mentioning it)The reason why we do the 'nade grind is that it makes it so we don't have to waste our real lives 'capping once a day' to get an entire FS branch. Some of us just don't have the timeto play a computer game everyday of the week... While others probably wanna get all the FS xp they can get before curb hits, cause we all know that it will be much more difficult to earn combat related xp after it does.

I was not fiscally able either. After I hit TKM, I spent three buff sessions alone in the Geo cave killing and looting everything that moved. End results: around 5mil in weaponsmith loot (including a very nice, 2.6mil set of +23 yellow cubes). That 5mil was more than enough to get me started with my nade grind. Here's a few tips should you choose to follow suit:

  1. Always kill the three enhanced kliks to get the DXR Schem. That alone should cover the cost of your buff.

  2. Scour your server's trade forums for buying information from weaponsmiths. If you don't find any, try asking around some of the weaponsmiths in game and see what they're paying for what type of loot.

  3. Kill and loot all droidekas for yellow cubes (/unarmedknockdown2; then spam /unarmedhit3)

  4. Kill and loot the mercenaries every chance you get (geo blaster schems go for 250K a pop on Bloodfin)

  5. Watch for the fire breathing spider to spawn. Now that she's dropping spider venom again, you can make an easy mil if you get in there and score a set of above-base venom.

  6. If you're up for it (bring some food!), and it's not camped 24/7 on your server, hit up the Acklay. If you were to score some nice acklay bones, you could be set for quite some time.

  7. Use alarms to time the acklay/fire spider. Acklay will spawn two hours after its killed (/alarmaddin 1 50 Ten minutes til Acklay spawns), fire breathing spider will spawn one hour after death (/alarmaddin 0 55 Five minutes til spider spawns).

  8. If you loot items that nobody's buying (white/red cubes, base cubes, etc.), don't hesitate to destroy it. Also don't hesitate to destroy the base stuff to make room for whatever pays best (e.g. destroy base green cubes for sets of +18 yellow cubes).

Just my 0.02 credits.
