If I drop the Novice Medic Skill but pickup boxes in the FS Healing branch, will I be able to heal myself?

Did you know that if you change your sig today, it will update your sig in posts you made yesterday (and the day before that, and the day before that, and...)

No, you get the ability /healdamage among others in the novice medic box, and you do not get this ability in the FS branch

This question comes up time to time and here is how it works for FS skills, SEAs, AAs, articles with modifiers, and food buffs.

Anything that enhances your skill does not train youin the COMMAND to use the skill. You need to have the approriate boxfilled that teaches the command. Healing requires the novice medic box because that is where you learn the /heal command. Likewise harvesting requires novice scout box for the /harvest command, so eating a food to improve harvesting yields will do nothing without having the command available. On the other hand, terrain negotiation is a passive skill, so if you eat TN foods or have the FS survival branch, you get the TN bonus because you did not needacommand to use it.
