Has anyone else noticed that when doing the nade grind, the MOB's attacks are less of a threat with a melee weapon equiped. I am a master rifleman and 0444 TK. I notice that since i'm master rifles i get more exp with baz nitches using nades, but get hurt pretty fast. However when i have my VK equipped I get less exp but am practically imune to thier attacks. NO for those of you trying to get me to drop rifles for TKM. not gonna happen. rifles work VERY fats for me. faster than TK. plus i like conceal shot and head shot 3. saved my ass many many times. Just wondering if you guys noticed about the melee def. I guess you have to have melee weapon for one to take advantage of melee def. is this true?

Your main issue is right with the weapon you're holding.
When a rifleman is hit whilst holding his rifle, in melee combat, the attacker will do double damage to you if you have that rifle in your hands.

i've noticed that if i go in unequipped i get slightly more xp than with the vk equipped. plus, you do not grind away the condition of your vk slowly throughout your fs grinding.
