You better tell that to George Lucas then ... It is Cannon that Double Bladed Sabers are a Sith Weapon. I posted a big long thread that included this a while ago, let me see if I can get the information again

The lightsaber is the weapon of the Jedi, but it is also used by the evil Sith. The deadly Darth Maul used a double-ended blade as his primary weapon. In his skilled hands, the swinging blade becomes an arc of destructive energy, capable of cutting anything it comes into contact with. The Sith lightsaber is basically two lightsabers end-to-end. It can be selectively used with only one end ignited.

Yeah, Exar Kun when he turned to the Dark Side, he created the first ever double-bkaded saber, i believe it was a blue color, accordiing to his data bank in starwars.com.

In the same way that the Sith have utilised the Jedi weapon, light Jedi have utilised this version of it.
I see no reason why the light or dark side should make you more or less able to wield a double bladed laight sabre.
Light sabre experimentation is encouraged within the game.

If you are talking strictly Star Wars "canon" the doublebladed saber is indeed a weapon used exclusively by the Sith in combat because of the sheer destructive force and the violent attacks that are possible to make with it. (Ie. spinning the saber would cause twice as many hits on your opponent and would be far more difficult to block but also to control)

However, the double bladed saber was also used as a training saber during the time after the Exar Kun wars some 4000 years before "The Phantom Menace" movie and I believe it is also used in the EU books that deal with the time after Return of the Jedi.

Btw. red as sabercolor does only mean "evil" in the movies. A Jedi is free to pick whatever color crystal he wishes for his saber to personalize it. Usually the crystal color would reflect the state of mind of the Jedi and his personality - Since red is the color of passion, rage and emotions it is fitting Lucas picked that one for his "evil" characters that are totally controlled by their emotions. (Fear, Anger and Hate.)

If you are into the entire Jedi stuff etc. I recommend the game "Knights of the Old Republic" by Bioware as it gives a whole lot of insight in how, at least some, Lucas Arts endorsed writers thought Jedi would be like, when they were at their peak of power.

According to this source, there are other crystals inhancing the saber in various ways alongside a description of where they come from, how they are made and things like that. Some crystals are notoriously "evil" as they have been formed near source of the darkside and others are "good" as they have been formed near lightside sources.

at the begining there were blue and green for Light jedis and red for Dark Jedis, but Lucas developed this concept. The double saberwas a "trick" to make EP I more amazing, and it really did good its porpouse, after EP I u can see this type of lightsaber in hands of light/dark jedis in famous games like KOTOR I, KOTOR II and Jedi knight academy, its not bound to a single side, (in KOTOR it says its currently used by Darksiders because of its potential power destruction)

for me in SWG too many ppl use it, as in star wras movies the classical jedi (light) weapon is the single saber, but im definetly not agree with your "sith double saber"
