Thread: Grinding crafting is rediculous

LOL

I have always been more keen on the crafting part of the game than the combat. I figured I would become force sensitive and grind out the four legs of the crafting tree and a couple in senses, so I could unlock my second slot as well as boost my crafting abilities a little bit. I am currently into the shipwright field, so I can't grind that way. There is no way I am dropping shipwright after all the time and resources I poured into mastering it, so I figured I'd have to do it with artisan goods. I figure the most efficient way to do it will be with personal mineral harvesters that give 425 xp a shot and take relatively small amounts of resources. I did a few calculations, and my eyes almost popped out of my head. I need a total of 4,900,000 force sensitive xp to master all 4 branches of craftiing. At the exchange rate for general crafting that equates to 39,200,000 general crafting xp. At 425xp per harvester I will have to make 92,236 harvesters to reach my goal. If I could put one out about every 20 seconds that would amount to 512 hours of crafting. Being as I can only play for about 3 hours per day that would mean 170 days of play sessions to master the 4 branches of crafting mastery. That's isn't even including the countless hours I would have to spend running back and forth to the village to trade in xp, or the amount of time it would take to gather the needed resources for such an endevour. That also assumes that I could retain my sanity while devoting 100% of my gameplay time to nothing but grinding out personal harvesters every single time I sat down to play. This is simply not in the realm of possibilty for me, and I have pretty much given up on the chance I will ever unlock my second character slot.

I'm not complaining, just giving anyone who was thinking along the same lines as me a little bit of a heads up on how difficult unlocking asa crafter would be.

if you can get the junk resource, how long would it take if you grind out swoops?

i was thinking along the same line as yours but was going to do it with swoops. since i can alway harvest junk steel and alum.

but yeah ouch.

Ya, that grind would suck worse then the normal combat stuff, but it's like that way just for that reason. If the crafting part of it was easy, then you would have everyone just doing those branches to get to Jedi quicker and so it has to be hard. I agree that it's a little over the top, but then again most aspects of this game aren't exactly well rounded. If your not in a rush, then just devote maybe 1 or 2 hours a day to doing it, and just take it slow. Find out what other people crafted to get the max XP out of it and give it a whirl maybe. No goal worth reaching is an easy one.

I have done the crafting lines. 7 boxes out of 8 so far. I was doing the architect gungeon heads but that was expensive. Even when I was harvesting my own ore and gem's... bleh. Then switched to making swoops and x34... 1 box to go. yippee... start saving up your resources. I usually get 1 mill or 2 mill resources then grind at the village. =) Macro helps to some extend still need to click. heh. It's doable if you have the patience and resources. Now on to the combat grinding... =/

HeHe I could do that

But then again I seriously doubt this game will still be active, by the time I was able to unlock in the year plus it would take me at that pace. LOL

I recently did the crafting grind for 3 trees by hand. I took Droid Engineer 0004 and crafted Advanced Droid Frame units in practice mode for 462xp each with each ADFU requiring 150 units of steel and 70 units of fiberplast. The DE xp cap is 240k and that converted to 48k of fs crafting xp, requiring 78,000 steel and 36,400 fiberplast. It took me around 60-80 minutes to reach the cap, depending on lag and how much i was paying attention.

To save the 12k round trips by swoop, I effectively lived at the village. I dropped a factory nearby and loaded it up with all the steel and fiberplast I needed. I could then craft more-or-less non-stop with only pauses to convert xp or for essential bodily functions.

I estimate it took me around 80-100 hours of mindless clicking along with 6 million steel and 3 million fiberplast to get through, but I did. Now I just need 2 lines of combat-based xp and 1 of senses and I'm done.

I was DE 0004, and completed each item in approximately 8 seconds. The area around the village is remarkably lag-free.

My part was middle-clicking each of the two stacks once (my mouse had the middle button mapped to double-click). Macros did the tool start, schem selection and completion.

Hmm well thanks, it's a better alternative to harvesters, thanks for the input and specifics.

Even 80-100 hours of solid gameplay is a lot, I'm still not sure this is for me, but at least I got a better way if I do decide to make it happen. Thanks again.

Hmm that's interesting because my calculations don't reflect what you experienced.

1) 3 legs of crafting mastery requires 3,675,000 force sensitive xp

2) With DE fitting into the "other crafting" category and exchanging at a 5:1 ratio that equates to 18,375,000 droid crafting xp

3) 18,375,000 / 462xp per craft means you have to make 39,773 items

4) 39,773 * 20seconds = 795,460 seconds / 60 = 13,257 minutes / 60 = 220 hours

Those numbers are much better than the ones I'm looking at for harvesters due to the better exchange rate and slightly more xp per item, but unless you figured out a way to complete a crafting session much faster than I have I don't know how you cut it down to 80-100 hours.

How did you do it so fast, and what level of DE do you have to be to make those items?
