I'm -sure- I read somewhere in the posts (and I've dutifully gone through the stickies, and the posts linked through the stickies) that the unlocked slot is "village-ready" i.e. doesn't need to go through badges.. but I can't find this information again, so I'm thinking I just imagined it. True? Untrue?

I'm not positive on this answer, but I don't think that the new slot is force ready. Before this system, they had a different jedi system where you unlocked a second character slot that was force sensitive, and then you could take that character and go begint he padawan trials. under the new system you CURRENT character becomes the jedi and then you unlock a second character slot as an alt. i think if you want this second character to be force sensitive as well, you'll probably have to earn all of the required badges again. Like I said I'm not positive, but I'll be surprised if that's now they have it coded.

Unfortunately this is not true
Your second character slot is treated by the game as a brand new character, same as if you were starting a new account. so if you want your SCS to have access to the village you must make you SCS glowy as well...however your jedi will still have access to the village, after they have finished the padawan trials

Whew, thanks for the information! I play on TC, which means slots already unlocked.. I was thinking, "Hmm, I'll just go through stuff on my first character, so I don't have to worry about mastering professions and stuff on the other." I think I'll just start a new character and villagify them instead.
