In the last 24 hours, I went from being a 1-1-1-2 Medic to being 1,000 healing XP from Novice Doctor. I've read the explanation of the quest from the FAQ quite a few times, but it makes no sense to me. I have no idea what experimentation is, or how I would effect it, or anything of the sort. I spent most of my time crafting Stimpacks and wound packs. Since I was going for quantity over quality, I just grabbed any two items that worked and started combining them. As such, I have no idea what "Each cure requires 10 Metal and 5 Flora, with Overall Quality (OQ) weighing 66% and Potential Energy (PE) weighing 33% for experimentation. It's best to bring both high and low quality resources so you can hit all the various experimental ranges." any of that means.
Could someone explain this stuff to me? Will it explain itself as I work my way through the Doctor crafting tree? Any help is greatly appreciated.

To start the quest you need to be master medic. To be able to craft the packs solo you need to be master doctor (For exp points). You will need to bring really bad resources and super high quality ones to get the cures right.

Yeah, I got that part. That's why I worked my way up to Master Medic, and hope to get to Doctor 0-0-0-4 by the end of the week. I just don't understand how to tell what the quality of the resources are, or what "experimentation" is, or any of that stuff.

When you start the quest you'll get a new schematic, use your Food/Chem crafting tool and it'll be there.
Get a droid for medical crafting (don't remember exact name).
Step1:
Quality of the resources: when you choose the proper schematic from your tool, it'll ask you for the ingredients, 10 Metal and 5 Flora. The quality of those ingredients will determine how good the unfinished product is. The OQ of the ingredients is responsible for 66% of the quality of the product, PE 33%.
This will be responsible for the base % on 3 things on the product/cure: primary cure, secondary cure and residual something.
You will need good resources to heal stuff like swelling and internal bleeding.
Step2:
Experiment: you'll get the option to experiment if you have your droid out when you're crafting, after choosing the resources. Experiment one point at a time, and you'll see the cure changing from, for example, Open Sores to Pus-Filled Lesions, from that to Erratic Heat Rate, and so on. Just allocate one point to Primary, Secondary or Residual and press "Run Experiment". Try it out 'till you get the hang of it, when you have the righ cure give to the quest droid at the village, and converse with it again to see if it cured the right disease.
Hope this helps, and sorry about the bad english, it isn't my primary language

Perhaps I'll be able to buy a set next time around. I've only had the game for a little over a month, and I've only gathered up about 200k in that time, so I'm a bit short of the minimum for getting the med packs. I'm just getting kind of tired of crafting (0-0-0-1 Doc as of last night), since it doesn't really make sense to me.

Treena_Dal,
FYI, I am selling medicine sets on the Bria Trade Forums:
And since I can't in good conscience just play "salesman" and bow out, I'll add a few suggestions and encourage you to keep trying yourself. I was able to craft meds to cure everything (including internal bleeding) with only Doc 0004, but just barely. I had some great flora with me (something like OQ 960 PE 890) and pretty good metal too. Even if you don't find good enough resources to cure everything, you can reset the quest droids and take different patients. Also, I think that the UT stat (which is available on most metals and on structural flora) controls the residual side effects. Honestly I can't remember whether you want this high or low-- lol-- but in case it's supposed to be low, you can try the trick of experimenting one point at a time on Residual until you get a critical fail (which DOES still happen in experimenting, despite the recent changes to critical fails), in which case it will reset to zero.
Good luck!
