Just curious what existing Jedi think .... which branches make the best foundation for Jedi, and why?

FS skills do nothing for a jedi. Do what supports you best for the grind up. Once you hit Paddy it is a new ballgame. Do not look for branches to help you in Jedi.

ranged defence and melee defence help with Jedi, as do melee speed, and melee accuacry, since the LS is a melee weapon. Not sure if force lighting is counted as a ranged weapon.

Personal I have gone Master Combat Prowess and Ranged and Melee Defence from the Reflexes tree

yup when I did village I went melee accuracy, melee speed, ranged defense, melee defense, survival, and vehicle control.. I'd say that's about the biggest cookie cutter layout there is for FS. (survival adds like +5 or so to terrain navigation, not a lot but noticable compared to none.. and vehicle control.. well, I gotta get out in a pinch sometimes..

I actually happened into this fs template becuase I opened about two crafting boxes and didnt want to do all that crafting. From what I raed, all of the fs skills come into play now. Melee skills affect your lightsaber and ranged skills affect force weilder skills. Melee speed, accuracy and defense all add into your lightsaber abilites. But Im a fan of the defender tree so I would prob opt out on melee defense. Speed is no longer capped so there ya go on that. and accuracy is a big factor in ls work. As far as ranged, the jedi have been "balanced" against ranged attacks so ranged defense is your friend. If you plan on using force wielder, Im not too sure if ranged speed and accuracy work for wielder. but if they do, then it would prob help. But if you plan on going master ls and master def, the melee boxes are your friend along with the ranged defense.

for the filler, I have vehicle control, which I kinda backed into because if you miss a phase, your options sometimes get limited for up to 12 weeks. Pre cu, vehicle control was evident. Post cu, it doesnt seem so obvious. Ill bet money that it's been nerfed. But it is a enhanced reflex box and counts towards the exit quest. I am wainting for the phase 1 in which I will get survival. Only because I have the other phase 1 quest. I banked all the er fs xp I need to cmoplete that tree. So when the quest is done, I will be ready to exit the village.

most of the other fs skills that go for crafting and healing are really only good if you just want to make your play in the rest of the game better or you just need a tree to exit the village. If you are a mster ranger, getting scout xp will help you immensly. Ive seen about 500 doctors with a rez macro and a friend in front of paemos. It's probably the most hands free way to get medical xp to convert. However, the skills that you get from these branches don't add to your combat viability when you become a Jedi.

Long and hopefully useful.
