Grind. Why did it have to Grind. - Indy

Grinding, very boring, you go first. - Salas

Why couldnt the journey to become a jedi be a series of long and arduous quests and Missions similar to the themeparks but not as easy?

What if there were 20 quests that had to be completed per Jedi Rank and each quest took hours or even days to complete and you had to aquire help at certain points of each quest by a variety of professions from crafters to Doctors to Combatants to complete any number of objectives on these quests and missions. Just Imagine a quest to rescue a highly important spy that was captured and placed in a detention cell on a star destroyer and you needed a smuggler to unlock cell and amaster pilot to take you to the ship and maybe a couple of ruffnecks to fight with you. The sky is the limit on how involved and complex these journeys could be, and the quests wouldrequire you to use your force powers as you learn them. There would be great rewards at the end of each quest. Ahh Im dreaming, sorry if I bored you.

guess ill go kill me a couple thousand Bols and call it a weekend.

The devs should put in a quest system for people like you but make it so it takes 2 years to complete.

That would be a good idea for jedi to do before they advance to knight orguardian except make it around a year or less.

Considering that Star Wars Galaxies was only meant to be a 5 year experiment before the next "expansion" or in reality new game, I highly doubt that year, or two year quests would be involved. And I'm sure that the general public would love them anyhow.

I am really not sure about a one year long quest, my idea was that the progression through the Jedi ranks required actual game content verses grinding. In the early stages the quests might be simple-annoying but similar. In EPII Anakin was asked to escort Amidala to Naboo, When Luke became a Jedi Knight he had to face Vader. My idea behind the jedi quest progression verses grinding xp is that the quests should be all encompassing, from search and destroy, to collect and deliver, scout and explore, assasination, defending and escorting etc. All of these different types of Jedi assignments would allow the jedi to fufill thier role in this game much as they did in the movies and it would require them also to seek out the help of other professions for different tasks along the way through their journey through the jedi ranks. And again there would be at least 20 quests to complete per rank and each quest might take days or a week or more to complete. If there are 5 jedi ranks at 20 quests per rank that is 100 quests and at a week per quest it maight take upwards of 24 months to complete the entire path to jedi Master. But the most important thing to remeber about this idea is that it does away with mindless grinding and puts real Star Wars content back in the game for the Jedi profession.

OP,

The idea itself is a good one, but there are always problems. For one, many people currently on their way to jedi with the current system will be very upset when the new system puts them a few steps backward. If the last switch to the jedi path (conversion to village) is any indication than the "reward" or progression granted to a current grinder would not reflect the work they had already put in. Secondly, many people are unhappy with how much attention the jedi have already gotten. A system of this scope would require a lot of dev attention, much more than the creation of the village. (20 quests per skill vs. a total of, i think, like 16 different village quests) If the devs granted that much time to revamping the jedi system once again then a lot of people with "broken" professions are going to be very upset. I want jedi just as bad as the next guy, but it's the crafters and other "normal" professions that really keep this game afloat. I'm not a smuggler, butI know that smugglers have been waiting for content for 2 years. I think smugglers should be able to smuggle before we worry about yet another new system for jedi grinders. That's just one example of course. Anyway, you have some good ideas and I agree with you on a basic level, but i think there are other things that need to be addressed first.

gRampz, I'm curious what you mean about SWG being a 5 year experiment. I hadn't heard this before. I've heard rumors of an SWG2 due out in a few years, but never heard SWG called an experiment. Any chance you have any dev-threads or articles you could point me to in order to get a little info on this?

You search and destroy bols. You collect thecredits from bol missions.Deliverbols to the Reaper. You scout out bols and explore ways to kill them. Assasinate bols. Defend yourself from attacking bols. And escort bols to their graves!

The developers have heard and responded. (Of course, now they're going to try to use MYgimpy responsefor their arguments!)

Totally agree with you btw.

Has anyone thought to ask the bols how they feel about all this? Ive killed thousands myself, and its truly brought me closer to my understanding of the force. Their deaths enhance my life, if things are changed bols will have no purpose. That makes baby Yoda cry.

It's not the grind,it's just that they keep moving the finish line.

I find it peculiar that the thing hunted most - bols - seems a lot like "balls", where it feels like we're getting kicked- each time we log on to grind.

I'm sure someone else has made this connection, i just haven't seen it yet. must be my drunken stupor.
