Upon browsing I found many good ideas, but I feel alot of people are missing the point of the village. It was made so people could work their way towards being a jedi without having to give up a proffesion they love for one they have no interest in. (Trust me, my first holo was architect, not something I ever thoughtI'd master)
The great thing about the village concept is that it is possible (but slow) to reach jedi by doing nothing more than using the character you had originally percieved, be it a tkm, ranger, doctor or armorsmith.
Everyone (myself included) has been in such a rush to become jedi that we don't even realize that in the 3 weeks between phases we could probably just play the game and still recieve enough xp (with a few village visits) to fill our force sensitive trees. Whether you choose to grind the xp or not, it is still a choice. Myself, well I'm just glad that I don't have to spend two months sitting in a cantina because Master Dancer may be my magic proffesion.
To many people see the village as just a gateway to keep jedi numbers down, I think its more of an open door that allows us to progress towards a goal while enjoying all the adventure and excitement the the galaxies of Star Wars offer.
Just my two cents
Flame away
P.S- My sincere apologies to all the dancers and architechs, its not that I don't appreciate you,its just that I wouldn't trade placeswith you for all the pearls in a grand grands gizzard.

well put....I grind with commando because I'd like to take a couple of days off from grinding inbetween without the constant pressure to get your buff in everyday.

it's an ongoing debate for sure, but hopefully the more mature players understand they point of the village and don't just see it as a way for soe to make more money off of jedi grinders.

The key there is the phrase "hopefully the more mature players understand". Too many kiddies whining that things aren't handed to them. And I totally agree with the original poster, this was supposed to be a way to enjoy your original profession without having to master one you have no interest in. But it's also slightly more combat oriented in that regard...you can get to Initiate without dropping your combat profession, but if you are either a crafter or a medic, you will eventually have to get some combat skills BEFORE you get to Initiate, as you only get 4 branches with either of those professions and you need 6, of course, to get Initiate. All in all, a far better way to do things.

Ya, sure, play like you normally do and you'll get there *eventually*. As a ws, I can sit there and craft some 20 weaponsin a batch, and end up with a mere 5k wpnxp if I'm lucky. At that rate, I'll fill abranch in about, oh, 1000 days. So I'm supposed to hand-craft how many weapons?Consider that factories and schem-making give absolutely 0 xp. Instead, I'm grinding ABLL's, filling 3 branches in a month.I'm going broke at the same time buying components and resources, but it's well worth it.
Playing normally may work for some professions, but not all. When the village came out, I'd beenWS for 6 months at least, andI still hadn't capped out wpnxp (which would only give about 24k FSXP when capped), but all my combat XP's had been capped for a long time.
Now, I'm not complaining, just stating that some professions cannot expect to fill branches in a reasonable amount of time playing normally, given how XP is currently awarded.
