Is it really worth it to use 300 app points to master Combat Prowess? Do you get any special mods by doing so?

Seems like I've read elsewhere in the forums that it's for the title only - I think I'd avoid spending the points on it. Besides, I read on the BH forums that some of them will use that as a "future reference" to look for you later.
So, avoid the hassle, save those points for mastering Dancer... he he he
