I have read a lot about becomming a Jedi and FS.

I like the way they have you become FS you need to explore the game and do some content.

I truly abhore how they implemented the way you get to Jedi

Mindless grinding on a time gated process that allows only those who have nothing better to do become something more interesting and "neat" to play.

I came to this game for the pilot but might stay for the Jedi and community

When I heard that Jedi were not really anything better just more stylish than the other professions I thought the grind is kinda pointless. Why make something that is not vastly better so dang difficult to attain? Don't give me story crap either with the addition of Episode III stuff this game total lost any creditability with in story line so that point is out of the window.

Here is what I think should be needed to get a Jedi under the current system. You must be FS and then master 5 elite professions of your CHOICE once you become FS. This game needs something to draw players in so they can have fun. I really do think the point of fun should be stressed with a minor grind which 5 professions of the CHOICE of the player would be not too much and still get them to try out new stuff. Once they unlock they get their freebie alt and can have fun with other players.

Although I would love for it to be that easy, I have to say no. There needs to be a challenge to getting Jedi. Of course, I don't think the current system is very good either.

Why not make something easy? Why make the game fun for casual players? If they make the classes and combat simple KISS they can take mroe time to do good content that would be hard and require teamwork. Not everything fun and fancy has to be hard and a mind numbing experience. It is not like this game has plenty of players that they do whatever with the game and expect it to keep trucking. WoW might have that kind of flexability but not this game. One of the most empty games I have played.

If anything they need to bring more players in and make jedi easier to attain but keep them on par with the other classes. Who knows you might find more diverse Jedi abilities if more people could play them.

i dont think jedi is entirely done yet, it used to have a major upside, something you missed called lightsaber damage mods, at master lightsabers we jedi could decimate the entire squill cave in a matter of minutes, or at master defender/master lightsaber/healer 4-0-0-0 solo krayts while talking on the phone + eating lunch + typing reports for school (ok maybe not that easy but it was pretty easy if you watched) after CU lightsaber mods were out so there isn't anything to look forward too your right, but maybe they are just biding their time and thinking of something truly fantastic

Ordu does have a good point. It's not the same as hologrinding. In hologrinding, you had to grind out professions that you may not have wanted to do. With the 5 choice method, you can master 5 elites that you like. It would also take away the people that want to get jedi3 days after they log in for the first time. However, just mastering 5 professions wouldn't be enough. You could still have something similar to the village mixed in with the 5 professions. Obviously, the quests must be made more challenging and require you to use a brain, not just get a group or CL 80's and blast away. I'm sure there is a way to mix in some "puzzle" type quests where you have to use your brain as well as your weapon.

Jedi Shouldn't be easy to obtain. I'm a casual player, and if I had put all the time I spent on guild hunts and the like grinding fs xp, I could be a jedi by now easily. You shouldn't be able to become a jedi in a month or two. Do you guys have any idea how easy it is to grind 5 elite profs nowadays? Even if you made a few tough quests for it, people would still be done within a very short amount of time.

People would share the answers and the quests would be meaningless.

I'm not talking about a "static" puzzle quest. Obviously it would have to be open-ended.

This is the way I see it currently is that this game is really unfriendly to new players. The only thing that it can lead to is the nincheness of the game and possibly cancelation or even worse what they are doing to planetside with advertisements. However, for a game to survive it must hold itself out of the normal of other games in atleast one respect. WoW did this with it's unique universe and popular previous titles. Now the game itself didn't do much except make it so that even the casul player can acheive the same as the hard core player in about the same time frame. IE lvls 1-60.

What does Star Wars Galaxies have to hold it against the norm. 30+ years of movie history behind it and a large following of people who love the movies. What were the movies mostly about that the general public noticed the most, yes, that is right JEDI. What is almost every game that is made about on a single player level, yes, that is right JEDI. What was one of the most successful RPGs ever in Star Wars gaming history, yes, that is Right KOTR which featured you guessed it JEDI.

So what do people thing when they hear Star Wars Galaxies that is right Jedi. When they get into the game they meet by a lot of Jedi already playing the game. When they finally make it to the forums or hear from players, not the people spamming afk, Jedi is an 18 week OMG shoot me in the face experience. This will only take people away from the game. Not like the game has other things to lean on great content, awesome combat, GCW and horrid PVP. This game really has one thing left to make it some what successful again and that is Jedi.

Personally, I would love to see this game get re-vamped by another company smoothed out and turned into a KOTR where you are only a non-jedi in the begining of the game and advance into Jedi as the game progresses. I have been dreaming about KOTR online since I finished playing the first one. I have even taken the time to write up some documents details aspects of the game from a design point of view.

When you take the fun out of the game it leads to two things. Ebay and a lot of people leaving the game for other things that are fun.

What are the two main problems with MMOs in the current age Ebay and players willing to play the game. Make Jedi common and it ruins their Ebay value while bringing in people who want to just be a Jedi for the FUN of it.

Now most people will say against since Jedi should be hard to attain. I think that is a bunch of crap. I would rather have plenty of people to play with that having a few hundred maybe even a couple thousand people with egos the size of China.

I will detail my system for attaining Jedi that will make some more fun for it and attract more players to the game.

First of all story has nothing to do with it so don't even try they threw that out with ROTW

How to get FS:

Current system is okay only one other thing I would add and that is a Badge of getting CL80 which would be needed in addition

How to get to the padawan trials:

You Master any 5 elite professions then you are given the option to go light side or dark side

After you make your choice, which can not be changed, you will then be instructed by a mysterious stranger where to go

He will give you the coordinates to a special planet that will let you land your space craft in the Jedi temple of the side you chose

Once you arrive you will be stripped of all money, items, only jedi skill boxes will appear and all previous exp and boxes are gone, and you now only have 1 lot, for a small house which will be given to after you gain padawan

Once you arrive you will find a training saber, padawn robes, cloak and a land speeder in your inventory to aid you in your new journey to become one with the force

You will go through various quests and minor griding, 10 to 12 play time hours max to complete the grind 2 hours a night for 5 days so the normal player can play too. You will not be able to advance to the next part until the 5 days are over so it will not do you any good to rush through it unless you just want to get it done. If you try to do it all at one time and advance your trainer will explain to you that you should go meditate or practice your saber usage.

Once you complete the padawan trails you will advance to the rank of Jedi Padawan

Okay this really as far as I have gotten in the system

This should take a total of under a month to complete after starting the game if you are super heavy grinder. However, if players start coming then people will be forced to take more time as people will not be rushed through it and I am sure no one will want to help players so they will do it themselves.

Make it well known the Jedi system has been taken down a few notches and even offer a come back to SWG for a free 14 day trial to try out the CU and maybe get yourself on the path to Jedi.

I want a game that has more players in it and face with all the crap the game has gone through the only really attractive thing it has is Jedi. You guys want more players make Jedi easily attainable just don't make them super powerful. Most people don't care they just want to have a glow stick or RP one. Elitist attitudes about Jedi are ruining it with just an extra push with how painful getting to Jedi.

I plan to study up on the Jedi information in the game and try to find out more steps to go through but I don't think making them harder to get so you can feel better about the fact that you did it will make the game any better.
