Thread: Using Grenades Some Tips

  1. Be courteous
  2. Be considerate. Ask before a lair. No one likes a player who tosses 10x the first 2 lairs then disbands. Use it as a tool to fill up remaining combat XP and take turns with others in the group who'd like to toss. It'll go much quicker for the group.

  3. Use the Radar
  4. Assuming you're doing non-aggro creatures like Pikets and Bols, you can see after the toss which creatures you injured (thus which creatures will give you Combat XP).

    After you toss at the lair and incap, any creatures you touched with the grenade will turn and stay Red on the Radar. Those are the creatures that will yeild full Combat XP. The creatures that are still Yellow on the Radar are not going to give you any Combat XP.

    Watch which creature is currently being pulled in. If it's a Yellow creature go ahead and attack it with your weapon. If it's Red don't touch it and you will get full Combat XP.

    It helps if you go into the Configuration panel and turn off the Use texture on Radar option.

Do you still get full combat exp if you shoot afterwards or does it split the exp?

It all depends on the creature and whether it was tagged with the grenade or not. It's a ratio of grenade damage vs. weapon damage & 10:1 for Weapon to Combat.

This is why it's important to watch the Radar.

Red = tagged.
  • Don't use weapon and you get full 10k Combat XP (ratio 10:0)
  • If you use weapon it splits, though you get slightly more Combat XP than normal. Example would be 8k Weapon and 2k Combat (ratio 4:1)
Yellow = not tagged.
  • If you don't use weapon you get nothing (ratio 0:0)
  • Use weapon and it's a normal kill. 10k Weapon and 1k Combat (ratio 10:1)
