I have seen a lot of questions lately about this issue and i have decided that maybe it is time that someone wrote a guide devoted to using grenades.

WHAT TO DO FIRST

Obviously the first thing to do is to buy some grenades. The best way to buy grenades is in factory crates of 25. They will often be priced between 15k and 40k.

Ok, now we have some grenades.

Finda group that will allow you to nade. I find that guild groups are especially good for this, but some large groups will let you nade as well.

WHAT TO KILL

Now we are all prepared to use our grenades, but it is no use unless we know what to kill. Go to any planet that you can get a group and non spitting creatures on. Some examples of these are: Dantooine-Bols, Pikets. Tatooine, Dewbacks, Banthas. Obviously there are more thanjust theseanimals that you can hunt with grenades.

COMBAT!!!!!

Congratulations, you are almost there. I find that the best way to do this is to fire 1 or 2 shots at the lair, then, when you have been aggroed by every creature, throw your grenade. However, for professions without high melee defense, the best thing to do is just to target the lair and nade. This means that you wont be incapped before you can throw the nade. After nading, you will be incapped, so dont try to heal yourself during the agro, the medical xp will half or more the combat xp you will get.

I find the best thing to do after being healed from the incap, is to help your group kill the creatures. Because the nade hit the lair, new creatures will be spawning. These will show on your radar as yellow dots, whereas targets you have already hit are red. Kill the yellow dots with the weapon of your choice, but dont attack the red dots.

THE NUMBERS

Most elite combat professions cap combat xp at 300k. However, both master commando and master BH cap combat xp at 900k. I find BH good, as you can also cap 3 other kinds of weapon xp, making a total of 390kfs xpper trip. If you are not one of those professions, and cap combat xp at 300k, you can get a lot of combat xp through a day of grinding. Most lairs can give upwards of 80k combat xp. I have capped combat xp in 2 lairs, by nading every creature.

I hope this guidehas helped people with their questions.

Since as long as I've been playing, this has been true. The only grenade certification wookiees rate is the "light grenade" cert, which allows for the use of bugbombs. On the upside, it's not that hard to make novice commando if you really want to get serious about getting enough exp to climb to Jedi, and start making use of the C22 grenade, a more powerful grenade, which uses exactly the same components to manufacture as the C12, but which can do considerably more damage, reducing the expense of grenade grinding. I'm trying to remember the stats on the C22's I used to make, and I think the max damage was in the 1300 neighborhood. For those intent on using C12s, speed powerups are probably the way to go.An artisan 4/4/x/x has 10 experimentation points, so a master isn't really needed.

So you really do damage to yourself if you are standing in the blast radius? I've never noticed myself taking damage using this method. Hm, I may have to try with no armor but I can't imagine that we can hit ourselves with our own weapon. If we can then I'm impressed.

I'm pretty sure you do damage yourself but it's not that significant if you are buffed and wearing armor. Just as a note on this, I used this method on hurtons and the like on Dant and managed to just about cap so I went to Dath to kill some stuff and head to the village. I converted once my 2 handed and combat were caped and noticed I needed another 15k FS to get into the 4th block so I did some local mobs. The Maloks are a good target but only con white. My XP was low so I equiped a non certed weapon and that brought the XP in. You can do the lower level mobs and still get great XP using C12s by equiping a non certed weapons. 2 malok lairs, one spider lair and a couple kinad baz nitches gave me 20k FS xp.

works great and this will be used in my FS XP grind from now on..... just remember to get that BF checked before your next buff. I'm hitting about 500 BF per buff now using grenades. Not sure if that's directly from the grenades or from the mobs attacking me while not fighting back. Remember that getting buffed with 500 BF means only a 50% buff so get that fixed.

You will notice the difference if you stand there without armor on. I wasn't too sure about it myself until I tried it. Of course I am a commando and was using C22s to do more damage too. While you do gain combat exp quickly, I found grenades to be boring because it takes me forever to finish off a lair with them. I am dropping commando and going back to swordsman and tka just for that reason. If you can't enjoy it, then it just isn't worth it.

Thanks for posting the bit about the Wookiee's guys. My toon, Kamehameha, is a wookiee, and I bought around 10 crates of C12's and tried throwing them. When nothing happened I was thinking it was because I was a Swords/Doc, but thanks to this little footnote, I now understand what was going on. IT's a good thing I gave 'em to my Zab. alt Pity though, it would make my life a bit easier As it stands now, I simply attack any friggin' red dot that shows up on the screen as I walk fro mthe village to rancor alley...and back.

Wookiees can't use C12's, but I believe we can use any of the grenades (when certified, of course) from the Commando profession. I should master Commando tonight and begin using Proton Grenades on Baz Nitches.
