oh and before you think i am some crazy power-gamer who just wants to rub it in... i am a TWO YEAR vet, and i just earned my exit quest yesterday. yep, took me two years of casual play to finally unlock. i had a ton of fun along the way just playing the game... hey wait! isn't that sort of the idea of the thing?

we have to remember that game system needs to reflect the play of both the hard core 24/7 (minus server downtime) players and the casuals ones. Makeing it easier for the casual player makes it that much easier for the hard core player.
The conversion rates IMO are fine . . . they reflect alot of work and alot of trips to convert it. Yeah it makes the game like work . . . but its your choice to go that route. You can't blame the devs for dangling a carrot infront of you when your standing in the middle of a vegetable garden. If you want that carrot . .it's gonna take work.
As for the phases . . . and their time lengths . . . the system needs a way to slow the progression and introduction of more jedi (in an already over populated community) The time periods also allows the casual player to do the quests at their leisure. A casual player doesn't have to sit down for 5 hours to finish a quest . . . they can start it . . .take a break . . do a little more. ... take another break . .. and then finish it . . . all in the time frame given. The time frame of the phases actually helps the casual player . . not hurt them.

I work full time, have two kids, house etc etc I've done the FS grind ... it's quite possible for casual players to do itIt does take us a lot longer but then you can't surely expect it any other way?
I've been here since the beginning, and after the revamp I only needed 2 content badges to make FS, but didn't do it til about 2 months ago. With my free unlock (major luck getting that, as I had used NO holo's on this character) I'm approaching my final branch.
I have 3 branches currently unlocked but not filled. I have 2 branches filled, one was my freebie. I can't bring myself to grind incessantly, so I just enjoy the game and head out to the village whenever I'm on Dathomir. Even though my last branch comes next phase shift, I'll be weeks after still gaining the xp I need....just because I want to continue enjoying the game and don't want to ruin it by boring repetition.
The current FS system hasn't been in place very long, and the FS/Jedi area has seen more Dev love than any other profession. Seeing as its supposed to be the rarest means that a small percentage of players continue to see improvements, to the detriment of the rest of the professions. Sure, others have seen changes, but nothing on the level of the FS/Jedi group.
The one change I'd like to see is to bring back the "unknown unlock" way of doing things. The Dev's should never have listened to the vociferous powergamer crowd and made the Path to Jedi known....
The current system is neither easy or hard, its simply long. Long weeds out the dabblers and part-timers, but powergamers will continue to do a thing as fast as is possible. Powergamers don't get bored with doing the same thing over and over and over again.....I probably played as much as most powergamers do, but I just can't stomach the endless repetition powergaming requires. It bores me.
The current system is nothing more than a time sink, and this is the only thing keeping powergamers in check. If you make it less of a time sink, then other ways must be created to keep Jedi overpopulation in check. If anything should be done, it should be made harder....not, I need a group harder, but mystery and thinking harder. Making you wade through large groups of high CL MOBs is hard, but not fun. The path to Jedi for me has always seemed a solo path, and it bugs me that the "Mellicae quest" can't be done solo, but requires a huge group.
Leave it as is, at least until the Dev's change the "known" to the "unknown".

I thought that was the idea yeah. I have only 2 comments/points to make on this topic of make FS easier to get.
1. Your character lives in a world (whether you immerse yourself and RP or not) that has days, weeks, months, years. If you start your character or life somewhere as nothing (CL1) and decide to train for something, it will take years of conditioning, practicing, training, and discipline to reach your goal. Years later of that characters life, you get your goal. FS. Why should the game allow you the impatient real lifer to get your character to a level of years of training in a rl span of a month or 2 at most? How is that fair?
2. We wouldnt have such an issue with FS and impatients if people would stop publishing the path to it for all the world to know after the change. Once the Pub 9 hit and the system changed we were all back to square one. Play the game, immerse in content and try to see if we can find the path to enlightement. Oh, nevermind, why figure it out? We will just post the path for all to see in order to be "fair". I hope they change the path to FS again and this time enforce a now walkthrough policy so players are forced to play the game and figure it out, or get it by accident to more closely represent "fate" deciding who is FS and who is not. Heaven forbid.
/sarcasm off.
