I seem to recall the thugs being the same as the ones that attack in phase 4. Medium armor rating and 50K HAM. Commandos, Swordsmen, and Pikemen were the ones who dealt with them in the gang fighting of Phase 4. I never got to finish phase 3 last time, so I don't know exactly how tough they were.

I had a rifleman with me and I was a swordsman/medic when we did the camps. If you pull one at a time you can dispatch the spawns pretty easy. They have good armor and resists, but if you keep them intimidated and have some stims you should be able to win.

The problem I had with it is that people kept coming by and making more enemies spawn. Eventually I had to use my friend to draw the spawns away, I killed the gate, got the commander, and then ran. Once you get the commander, target him and watch him like a hawk. Have your partner kill the spawns that try and retake the commander.

I did not do it by myself (obviously) but from what I remember talking to people and reading posts, doing it in a group of 2 is about the best way to go.

last time around i helped a lot of ppl with this quest. the thugs have roughly 50k ham 80% protect everything and deal pretty high ranged dmg. The best way was to have a rifleman(woman) draw 1 at a time till you get the 5 killed then run up to the base from the back side of the base and hug the wall as close as you can while moving around the base to get to the gate. They will at times argo you but just stop for a sec and they move along their way. Take the gate out run in take the turrets out and grab the commander.

NOW wait in a few min the thugs outside will de-spawn. Then it's just the long walk back to the village commandor in tow.

Some ppl have said they could ride thier bike back but i find running easier since the commando will stop and stand there if you get too far ahead and you might have to deal with some wildlife or a couple of pirates.

If and one tries this please post what you think

Thanks

I'm pretty sure that new ones spawn on a timer, the old ones despawn and new ones pop-up about 20-30 seconds later. It gives you a window to run in and grab the commander then run out. I don't think that other players passing by will affect the spawning. You also don't have to kill th evarious groups you see along the way, have your partner aggro the whole group and lead them off on his swoop. When I did the quest last phase, I captured the commander and lead him back by riding my swoop, he can keep up on the hills but has trouble on the ground, I had no terrain negotiation skills so the swoop helped me out immensly when going up hills, I just held the shift key down when going down hill or on the flats.

Good luck to you, this is by far the most fun quest in the village. A bit frustrating to find a base with the shields up still and full buffs, but still the most fun.

That's weird because I was reading that you only get 5 enemies per characterdoing the quest. It was frustrating to see about 15 enemies standing around after we had killed about that many.

Either way good luck, Make sure you're johnny on the spot with some stims and be sure to have brandy + dance/music buffs.

As have been noted, they have about 50K HAM and 80% resist to anything. However, draw one at a time and get them to go melee against a def stacker, and they shouldn't be a problem (just takes time).

I have also seen another, more crazy tactic that worked.

I was in a rather large group of melee fighters, about 8-9, what we did is we stormed in (yes, this seems crazy), through the gates and DIRECTLY INTO THE TENT in the center. What happened is that only a few of the sith followed us into the tent in the center, and we could dispatch them pretty easy. Haveing a two docs in the group that could ressurect the more weak players helped too. We actually had to go out and fetch another thug because not even 5 of them followed. Then, after we got the 5 thugs, the commandor spawned and someone captured him. Another few brave men ran out to distract the thugs (did anyone say feign death?) while the commander got out.

That tactic is probably the QUICKEST way, but can be a bit dangerous. It's fun to try out if you wanna do it quick and don't mind risking a failure (you can just do it again). On another note: we didn't finish since the guy holding the commander crashed about 1.5km from the village

I eventually finished with 4 guys. 1 takeing down the shield, the group hitting 5 thugs (pulling 1 or 2 at a time), and a smuggler luring the sith at the entrance away when it was time to get the commander. Worked wonders. And with 8 hours left to go of phase 3, hehe.
