I could not find an answer to this question. So, there are a number of static base WP's. What happens if you go to one being used? do you have to wait in line? How long does it take for them to reload for the next player/group? How does this aspect of the quest work exactly. Thank you.

Your best bet is to move on to another WP. From my experience, the base does not reset until the person who is currently running the mission either delivers the commander to the village, or fails the mission. You must be the person to actually start the mission to get credit for it (e.g., you cannot come in on the middle of someone else's mission, and get any credit for it.)

Isnt the remote you get only for one specific base though? The explanation in the faq of this quest is a little confusing. Can anyone who has done explain it or point me to a clearer thread?

This happened to me, had a large support group and the right plan, but as I was about to drop the shield, another group of 2 comes in and does it right before my nose.
I was lucky, because I could join up with those 2 since only one of them was unlocking, but usually you have to wait "a while". Your best bet is definitly moving on. Getting a new remote is quicker. (Expect a minimum of one hour "down time" for a base in use).

You go to one specific base depending on the remote you loot... its true in regards to the base doesnt respawn until the commander who is being currently escorted despawns (be it mission complete, or he dies from the bio toxin)
Its always best to get a lot of base locations, and get the missions for one of those nearest the village. It means that theres a good chance that you will have to wait in line for it to respawn as everyone else doing the mission will have the same plan, but the added speed of travelling back 3k vs 7k makes a massive difference.

You are right, the remote is only for one waypoint. However, you can get more than one remote. What I did was kill enough sith to loot several remotes. Then, I made sure the waypoints were close enough to the village to get the commander back in time. If you get the waypoint for the base right outside of science, throw it away! That one is always being used by someone becuase it is so convenient. Get your group together, and head to one of the waypoints. If the shields are already down, move on to the next waypoint until you find one that has not been started yet.
The competition for these bases will drop after the first week, but until then, there will be a LOT of people trying to complete the mission.

So, you have to go to a base waypoint first to loot the remote in the first place? And the remote may not even be for that base? It's on those spawns of sith right outside the bases and not just regular spawns right?

Not exactly.
You have to find spawns of sith on Dath. You then have to kill them and loot them until you get a data disk, or something (I can't remember exactly what you loot - It was 12 weeks ago, LOL). Then you take this to the correct person in the village. He will give you a remote with a frequency for a specific base. You can return several items and get several different remotes.

Oh, and you don't have to loot the sith in front of a specific base. There are now random spawns of sith roaming all over Dath. Just find these (preferably the ones in small groups with fewer thugs), kill all the sith and loot them for the object to return to the village.

how often does the loot drop?
I've taken down about 50 pirates/thugs/outlaws in the past hour and nothing.

Really?!?!?!? No loot at all? Or just no datadisks? You are looking for a shield code disk. Last time I was in phase III, they were dropping like crazy. You are killing them on Dath, right? When I did the quest, I found bands or sith roaming around on Dath. These are not the sith in the bases, although, you will probably find them near the bases (within 500m). I was also looting resources like crazy from them.
