They then get the option to escort commander, so the original person that was suppose to do the escort gets screwed ?

i was in a group when this happened. if person who downs shield dies, it does not effect the person escorting the commander. my partner died before the commander came out, however i did not. we both respawned, and my friend said he got a message saying he failed. i was able to return to the base and escort the commander back and get credit.
