I just came back to SWG after a long absence, i decided to go melee over ranged since i have never done this before and the fact that lightsabers are melee.

I have unlocked my FS, and im wondering at what point is good to start the grind, we are in phase 4, im going to wait till phase 1 starts, but right now im a master brawler and a novice TKA.

Is it easier to just master one profession, say TKA, and just grind out 900k at a time, or would it be better to wait till i can hit 900k with 3 skills? Personally, im leaning towards TKM and master swordsman, and just grinding 900k twice. then going to swap out xp.

Whats the general idea behind this?

Most people suggest 2 elite prof. I personally have 1 elite TKM and I just do the 900k plus the 90+k combat and convert. Its going okay for me, just depends on how much you hate the drive to the village. Commando seems to be the flavor of the week as you get massive combat exp for using the detonators on lairs. Combat exp converts at a higher rate 3 to 1 so the quicker you can gain combat exp the quicker you can gain FS exp. Hope I didnt confuse you.

also consider this, if you do, as Drav suggested and go with one elite and convert the 900k weapons and 90k combat, it will take you 1 hour a day over the course of 3 weeks to learn one full column. With that in mind, you have to ask yourself, does it really matter how fast you convert the xp over.

Even if you wanted to supplement your master melee by tossing some c-12's at each lair i worked it out like this. Take 1 c-12 (5 uses with max damage around 800) and toss that at a fully aggroed lair. By fully aggroed I mean having about 5 creatures within 5m of you, while standing right on top of the lair. Toss the 5 uses (1 grenade) and in the end you will have about 120k of combat and 900k weapons. Its a little boost, may or may not be worth it. You also have to consider how much damage you'll do to your armor, c-12's trash comp.

While going up my final column I chose to use fencer and c-12's. I bought 6 creates of 25, all with max of 770. I threw an average of 5 grenades (25 uses) at each quenker and piket lair i went after. I was converting 270,000+ combat and 900 weapons each trip. I managed to do the whole tree in a matter of days. I went through 2 chest plates in the process (failed repair on one because I let it go too far down, my fault).

Why are you waiting for Phase 1 to start If you can go up to the village and get your Unlock.

It doesn't hurt to do a quest to unlock a branch. You don't have to train it if you don't want to.

You can start your grind later but if I were you I would at least get an Unlock done in this phase.

For combat the quest unlocks the Melee defense or the Ranged Speed tree. You can grind out the XP at any time but at least complete the quest and get the unlock as it may save you time depending on which Branches you choose.

I only did TKM also and kept master medic cause stim d's and e's always come in handy when you are gridnng to novice lightsaber also. Anyways the best bet thing I did was do regular 5k quenker missions using c12's only untill i hit about 210,000 combat xp then did tkm the rest because you get at least 90k combat also so you cap out the 300k combat and your 900k tkm and BAM 130,000 fs xp. Personally you have 3 weeks per phase (It is good to keep at least enough 1 full branch fs xp banked if you can so on your last branch you can finish it then and there but up to you). So it's up to you if you want to do another elite profession so if you did that then just do 120k combat xp then grind the other 2. Totally up to you. I will say though keep tkm because once you are a padawan you will need it for when you get attacked by BH's

you can't dump anything that's required for a profession, if you want to be a comando, you need to be master marksman, to drop master marksman, you must drop all comando.

Yeah the easiest way to think of this is that if we could drop those required for the profession then everyone would be Masters.... TKM/Swords/Doc/Rifle etc.

To answer your 1st question, I am MDr & M2hand and I have no problems w/ the XP grind. Yeah, I can't do the double xp cap, but not having to stop and buff/heal helps out. Not to mention I can slaughter mobs on Endor/Dath endlessly and not have to worry or stop for being diseased/poisoned.

To answer your 2nd question, the current phase 4 combat/reflex mission isn't all that hard. Yes, it is a serious combat mission, none of this killing glorified meatlumps. The mobs have like 20k HAMS and 70+% resist, but as long as you are there buffed and around a large group you'll do fine.

You don't have to actually KILL the mob to get credit, just do some damage to it. What I did was run up to one, hit it w/ a couple mind bleeds, maybe a few mind hits, then run to the next one. Make sure those mobs are attacking other players, otherwise you'll have an aggro train on your butt.

This becomes especially important against the pirates because so few spawn. The higher-end guys who killed the weaker thugs/outlaws quickly (I got all 50 in one 20 mins session) will be standing around waiting for pirartes to spawn (which took me 3 iterations to get 25). If you stop to fight a pirate until he's dead, any others that spawned will also be dead. So go smack them all at least a couple times so you get kill credit for the entire spawn.

You just need 4-0-0-0 commando to use the thermal detonators, I am assuming thats why you want commando, to get combat xp. And you cannot drop marksman if you have novice commando.

The quest for melee defense I was reading was a bit hard and i wasnt sure i could complete it with just being a master brawler and a 0-0-0-0 TKA. I was going to attempt to get 0-0-3-0 TKA so i can get spin attack 2 first. Do i stand a chance doing this quest with just spin attack 1?

If i can do this quest now, then im all for it as that will save me 3 to 6 weeks depending on how you look at it, i just thought i was too weak right now to do it.

please correct me if im wrong.

Well yeah you are a bit unprepared for the combat quest.

If you can get a decent group together to help you out. If you do the combat quest you only have to get a hit in on the sith for it to count while the rest of your group comes in to slay it.

Like you said it may save you 3-6 weeks and it doesn't hurt to try. Just get some really good armor buffs and some bodyguards and you should be ok.

I cannot say how important it is to stay with your group. If alone, you will die. I am Master Doc/Swords. As long as the group was together, we slaughtered everything. Once members started to die, it was a different story. One of the problems was instead of waiting for a doc to rez and re-buff, people would clone back to the SO, then ride back. But that takes too long, and more people ended up dying. Soon group was in shambles. Very tough.

Hit and run, hit and run.
