Grab yourself 417,648 units of metal and 9944 Metal Staff practices later, you will have your first box. 
I am in the same boat with you! I figure I am not gonna be in a big hurry to get those FS Crafting branches filled. Just too many resources to burn just to grind the FS XP.Guess about 2 years from now I will get the 4 FS Crafting boxes done!

On the plus side, at least your merchant xp gets you 4:1 on sense xp, and there is really no work to getting merchant xp. Consider that a smallgive back for the low blow on the crafting xp.
And I know the combat folks will whine about their 30:1, but at least I can go out and in a few hours with the rifle get 250,000+ xp compared to a couple hours of crafting for a few thousand xp. And yes, I know I could get the xp faster in those few hours, but throwing resources away on practice grinding is something I am not prone to do, especially with the current prices of resources. Plus the combat folks have the opportunity to loot and take missions for cash as well as socialize! I can only stare at the crafting station for so long before I have to go slaughter something!!!!!!

I will need 24.5 million weapon crafting xp to get all 16 boxes. God help me
Infact,i converted all my banked and capped weapon crafting xp, general crafting xp, and all the weapon xp i've gotten since from weapon orders and such, and is till don't have the novice FS crafting box
