I just got the last of my needed badges last night. I'm waiting for the old man and whatever else happens.
My question has to do with unlocking a second character slot.
When will I unlock it?
Do I have to stay a Jedi with my main char to keep the 2nd slot?
My scenario is this. My main char is a mayor/businessman/pilot. I would like to not be hunted all the time with this char, just want to open the 2nd char slot to use for a Jedi.
How confused am I?

You get your second character slot when you reach the rank of Jedi Padawan, after completing the Padawan trials. I'm not sure about your second question.

Your second char is just a newb - you'd have to grind all the way to glowy all trough the FS again - to make your second char a Jedi...

But will I lose the 2nd slot if I quit jedi with my first char?

No once you make Jedi you get second slot. Not sure how you can 'quit' Jedi - I think you can never train any Jedi skills (not even Novice LS) but you can't drop FS skills - once you chose and train are yours forewah... Just never use the lightsaber, the robe and the title and you won't ever get the visability. Otherwise show off just a little - here comes BH for your ar*e
