Firstlythere is definitely merit in the grenade grind as it far quicker to change template and nade than it is to stick with what you have - but this is a playing preference and there are those who will suggest otherwise. Personally I did half non-nades and half with 4000 commando and imp dets. The difference really is vast, but its costly and still no 'walk in the park'. Looking at your current template I'd suggest grinding this out as you will need to grind something out to start with anyway. Even if you decide NOT to go nades a bit of CH and BH is definitely not a good template. MTKA with Master Pike or Swords would be better for the non nade route.

Remember you are looking at 7,350,000 FS xp or 22050000 combat xp and if you have played before you know thats an awful lot.

It might be worth knowing that although you will be gaited by 6 separate 3 week phases you can 'bank' xp so get grinding while you wait to unlock - the reason I say this is that the combat upgrade is about 5-6 weeks away and it might be wise to 'grind' hard as there is a reasonable chance the FS grind will be harder - although this is not definite, but why take the risk.

Finally don't worry too much about your mind regen - they recently changed the timers for 'digestion' so you can stack many more brandies and canapes than before. Mind won't be an issue with composite.

In terms of what to grind - well I can only speak from experience as a TKA and 4000 commando. I group with an ATST and get lvl 75 missions when i can't find a sologroup. I choose 11k Giant Baz Nitch Missions on Dath. Simply tap lair to get all the critters out, target lair, nade THE LAIR until all are dead, tap again for the 2nd spawn, wait again, nade again, rinse and repeat for each lair. Cap combat xp (300k in about 30-40mins)

Since you said you DIDNT want to do the nade thing...apparently someone missed that statement hehe. First off, store the composite somewhere for later use if you want to and get yourself some Ubese armor. You should be able to get a full set 70-75% Kinetic resists for about 75k. I say to switch this up because the HAM penalties are a lot lower. Secondly, get yourself some Vasarian Brandy, Canape courtesy of your local chef. By them by crate. Once you get buffed you should be able to pop 2 brandy and 2 canape to start with and then your mind and mind regen won't be an issue at all - just keep an eye on your filling so when you can pop another one - do it. Food is an integral part of the game so check out the foods when you can and see what does what for your own reference.

What to grind. My recommendation would be hunting Huurton Huntresses on Dantooine. Some would say savage quenkers, but I find I got more xp from the Huntresses. You can always try both and see which you like more or switch them up when one gets boring. You can also choose to hunt Crimson something-or-others on Endor - they look kinda like the Kwi from Dathomir, but I can't remember the exact name since I haven't hunted them in awhile.

Good luck & Happy Grinding

First off, welcome back! I'm hoping there will be more of a trend towards veterans coming backas the CU draws closer and closer.

I'll agree with the two previous posts on how to grind the XP necessary to fill your FS branches. Regardless of which way you go (I'm guessing based on your post you won't do the 4/x/x/x Commando)mix it up and make sure you get in a good solo group. Best place to group is usually the Dant MO then go out and have some fun. Also, even though your not a commando you can still use C12 grenades to get more combat xp.

To answer your question on the second account...if you can afford it...do it. Best thing I ever did was taking my primary character Doc. With pet tumblers and some good stims you can master doc in no time. Of course you'll still need to do the crafting branch...gasp.

However, on the flip side...CU doesn't look good for Medic/Doc. So, if your looking for a short-term fix then I'd still recommend doing it.

Best of luck and again welcome back.

Thanks alot for the replys guys, that helps a ton. I wasn't eating anything, forgot about that completely so that'll be a big help. Last night I really thought about switching over to commando and I still kinda am. My question on that would be are grenades the primary way you kill things with that commando 4000 or do you need TKM to support it? If that's the way to go maybe I should spend the time getting there and then grind out all of my exp and bank it for future branches....how quickly does commando lvl? I already have master marksmen and some brawling exp from when I was TKA.

I know you said You didnt want to do the nades but another thing to consider besides just the shorter grind period is the amount of times you really want to drive out to the village.. sure you can get the exp through weapons I started out doing just that but to make that 10 minute+ drive(both ways) and only net 60k exp... well that sorta sucks compared to the 100k+ per drive doing nades... god knows I couldnt stand that drive one more time then I had to.. in fact this phase was my last unlock and everytime I drove out to drop off the crate of supplies and get the next wp I maxed out my combat xp I never made a trip out to the village just for a quest reason

Hey guys,

I played for about 2 months after release, whent up and down several skill trees and finally got kinda bored. I went back to DAoC and grinded out like 5 or 6 lvl 50s there in the last year and decided to come back to SWG for the jedi stuff.

When I quit I was in the process of switching professions again. When I reactivated I found my char had Creature Handler 3-2-2-4 and Bounty Hunter 1-2-2-3 and some medic.

So I spent the first week back soloing all the glowybadges (cept the warren, grouped for that) andsoloing the first unlock quest.

Now the problem, I cannot remember where I did grinding before I left. I can't remember what were the best methods. I also picked up a set of good composite armor and am finding it more difficult to grind in due to mind regen rates for healing (I'm a Zabrak).

So instead of me trying to fumble through everything again, I thought I'd ask here, despite this being alot to ask and feeling n00bly. If you guys can recommend any tips or spots for exp it'd be awesome, I'm not looking to plow through this stuff in a week, I'm looking to mainly fill out each FS branch in each village 3 week phase. I don't want to do the grenade thing I'm reading about, I'd prefer not to do any template building or switching until Jedi if I could get away with it. My wife also had an account when I first played, I was thinking about reactivating it and making her a doctor for buffs and healing me to save my mind pool when I'm in composite armor, would this even be a help to me?

Thanks in advance guys, sorry for throwing out so many n00b questions on a more advanced forum.

So here's a question for you guys... I'm in roughly the same position S-G's in, in that I started on day 3, left about 8 months later, and have recently come back.

How does a master sword/master doccompare to nade grinding? A friend of mine who took over my character while I was gone (and who gave it back when I returned) added master doc to the master sword template I left him with, and I have rapidly grown to appreciate it, so I usually do fairly well with just about anything.

Thanks to my friend and the master doc add-on, I usually go out buffed with food, entertainment, and medical buffs, and have only rarely had problems with anything. Please understand I'm not trying to brag, but want to realistically ask how the grenades would compare when I mention that 5-6 rancors simultaneously can be slightly challenging, but are usually doable. Grouped nightsisters are the only things I've had problems with so far. Most missions run like this - I run in (part of a solo Jedi group - difficulty levels of up to 219), spam spin attack 2 until everything is dead, hit the lair, spam spin attack 2, rinse and repeat. So far, no difficulties with that, and I typically finish a lair within 5 minutes.

Would the grenades do significantly better? I'd very much like to keep this template as I love swordsmen, but if it's a difference of night and day with nade grinding being 10x faster, I'd definitely consider it.

Thanks

Imagine this:

With Commando 4/x/x/x, you grab 2 Giant Baz Nitch missions in a solo group, head to the lair, and toss Imp Dets at the lair while standingin the middle of it.

Within a few minutes, you will have 30-60k of combat xp, depending on the mission level, nade strength, etc. Kill the first wave in the first lair, and head to the second mission lair. Do the same, and head back to lair 1....blah blah. Last night I hit a lair goldmine...three within 100m. Cap Combat XP and trade at the village. In one buff, you can get 250k-500k FS XP...the 500k being very tough for me..I average 300k per 3 hours of grinding, without killing myself.

I did not do it the commando way, but I used C-12's for all of my FS XP. I could cap out twice per buff with combat xp. So lets look at some math.

Say you play every other day. If you cap combat XP every other day with grenades, that's 100k fs xp every other day.

If you cap regular Weapons XP every other day, that's only 60k. With only that in mind, grenade grinding is 40% faster than regular grinding (Mathmatically).

What I did was grind for two weeks straight (One cap per day) then take a week off so I wouldn't get burnt out, by then the next phase would be ready and I would repeat. You could also just cap once every other day and take no long break as well.

ALSO, keep in mind, one Grenade cap takes about an hour, hour and a half at most while regular weapons xp caps take 2-3 hours at most. So when I say cap once with grenades every other day, that's only an hour's worth of time each day.

The current village trade in is designed so you cap your regular weapons xp once per day every day during the 3 weeks (Which means 18 weeks of pure non stop grinding every day) That cap once per day takes two hours because it's regular xp.

So basically, instead of spending two hours a day for 18 weeks straight, you can spend 1 hour every other day for 18 weeks straight. You decide for yourself which is better. Don't forget I only used C-12's without any command skills. With the actual commando skills and great grenades, this can all be done even faster.

Many people say that grenade grinding is not right and it's cheating or un jedi-like blah blah blah. Well, if you were given a choice between shoveling the driveway with a spoon or a snowblower, which would you choose? With the combat "nerf" coming up, I would highly suggest to use grenades while you still can, as many of us suspect they will nerf them when the CU hits.

Bottom Line: You cut your grinding time in half

We have until May 5th....5 weeks or so..then the CURB will most likely end this all.

lol yep that's why. .

"I would highly suggest to use grenades while you still can"

Grind harder and it can be done faster. I was just speaking about a leisurly pace.

You can get a whole tree done in a day or two if you work real hard. The person above

stated they get about 300-500k fsxp per buff.

Yeah, and you get a big bowl of candy from Paemos when you grind your branches without grenades, and a new shout macro in your macrolist that says, "I've Been To Duluth, and I Didn't Use Nades! I RAWK!"

Do it your own way...but if you aren't going to nade it...you better really get humping to beat the CURB...or...maybe the CURB will make combat XP a 1:1 conversion.....
