I didnt have any problems really while at the village. Only got cloned once, and that was because I waited to late to run from the bastages.

Have to go with yes and no

Yes for the combat profs... seems to be more of challenge for the 'easier' sith guys and not such a pain for the Thugs...

No for the crafters... the overall weakening of the crafting professions' capabilities makes the FS portion of the game virtually impossible without dropping soem crafting and having at least one combat prof... not ALL jedi were fighters after all

the nature of the quests was to enable all types the oppertunity to become jedi if they wanted . . . which is why there is a Crafting FS tree (though I'm so sad there is no entertainer one )

As for balanced . .rigth now I'm going to say no. I say no because the evidence points that those withough combat profs can't hope to defeat the ambush which truely iniates you into the world of FS.

Not all jedi were fighters . . . hmmmm . . .to a point yes but as guardians, the jedi did need to have the capability to protect others as well as themselves. Does this translate to the CL80 you seem to need to beat the Sith ambushers . . . not really. If they were lowered to like CL 30, I'd be more inclined to beleive in balance

I think I'm going to have to dissagree with you on that. They may not have been all frontline fighters, but they all had some fighting capablities. So I think having an Elite combot prof is viable (maybe not mastering it though).

good point... I would agree that all would have hadsome combat abilities, kinda like the US Army, everyone goes through basic combat training (even a the paper pushers). I would expect the same of Jedi... so, totally agree that someone with absolutely no combat skills should have a very hard time, but needing a master elite is a bit much if you are only interested in the crafting and senses

thinking bout it again . . .

back in the day before the empire . . . Jedi were actually kinda bred at childhood . . . the jedi-lings had their first lightsaber at like 6 years old and they were trained to fight/defend at an ealy age. But what about Herbie . . . you know the one who didn't want to be a jedi . . he wanted to be a dentist. or mayeb it was a crafter of dentist tools? whatever

DAMN youEmperor . . . why must Ifight the Sith? Then again I think the 6 year old might find the Sith hard to beat as well.

Well the times . . they are a changing

Is it balanced I would have to say yes. I think it is so for a few reasons. You go through gaming in your chosen profession. The village is set to prepare you for the path to become a jedi, it is a choice. The village phases are broken into 4 quests, 2 combat, 1 medical, 1 crafting. Some of these bonus's will help you at the present profession. Jedi (once you get there) is all about combat. The SITH are at CL 77 and I think this is balanced. Artisan, Merchant, chef, entertainer, etc etc.. will not help you as necessary professions once you become a Jedi. you will need to make a choice sometime into the quests as to if you want to go Jedi and alter your current temp (which you will want to do for def and melee bonus's) or stay as you are. The path you take to enter the glowy is a choice. It will not be as easy as it was before.

Being a jedi and becoming FS are two totally different thing IMO. Yes when you become Jedi its all about the Saber and the combat but to become one . . . I'm not so sure. After all, why would the medical branch include dance/music healing (yes I know that will be changed) if it wasn't meant for those types to be able to at least become FS? How many Jedi survey? Yet there is a Survey branch. So I don't think the FS proff (as its been dubbed) should really require a great deal of combat skills.
