Hi everyone.

First i'm gonna introduce myself, i'm Jess, 22 years old and have been playing SWG 3 months ago, but i've readed a lot about it before i even get my copy delivered.

I know that you have read (and thought) soooo many ideas to become a Jedi, but i've another ones here that i haven't seen around (besides, "improving" some that have been said), so, lets start:

(Please read the whole post before spamming or flaming, thanx =)!!)

1. Delete the whole "glowie process" (getting the badges), instead making it random with VERY low possibilities to get any of the 2 "almost glowie" ("you feel the force surge..." and "you have a strong sense...") or the "glowie" message... keep it to 5 to 2% of possibilities to get this message when creating a character. This will give it a bigger "star wars sense", cause now you can "born" beign force sensitive (as Anakin, Luke, etc).

2. Make the /checkForceStatus command not available to anybody but the ones who did the current "glowie process". I mean, if you don't get the 1 Profession badge, 5 Content badges, 3 Jedi POIs, 5 Easy POIs and 2 Difficult POIs, then you can't use the /checkForceStatus command. Or even better, make the "Old man" tells you your Force Status when he visits you, instead of he giving you the Village Quest, and get rid of the /checkForceStatus command.

3. If your character gets any of the messages "You feel no connection with the force", "You barely notice something different about yourself" or "You feel a faint sense of the force" there's NO WAY you can be a Jedi/Dark Jedi, so, you can delete your current char, make another one, go throught the "Badges process" and hope you get any of the these other messages from the /check command (or the old man): "You feel the Force surge within you", "You have a strong sense of the Force within you" or "You feel an inner glow. The Force is with you".

4. If you got one of those messages, then you must find any Jedi/Dark Jedi Knight (or Master) and ask him/her to take you as Padawan, achieving now the Title of "Jedi Padawan" (no Dark still). Yes, all of this in your current character, no FS Slot.

5. From the moment you become "Jedi Padawan", you suffer of Permadeath, this will force all Padawans to become more "sticky" to their "Master", as seen on the movies (and novels).

6. Allow a Jedi Master to get only 2 Padawans at time, when he is done with them (because the Padawan achieved Knight grade or died), the Master must wait 2 months before taking another Padawan again.

7. If the Jedi Master has 2 padawans, allow him to grant the title "Jedi Knight" to ONLY ONE (previous accomplishment of skill boxes), this will increase the Padawan's competition AND desire of them to kill each other... if they do this, they're granted the title "Dark Jedi Knight" instead "Jedi Knight".

8. Give Jedis low FS experience by healing non-jedis, normal FS experience by running escort missions, lower FS experience by running destroy missions and no FS experience by killing ANYTHING (yup, no action gives high FS exp, Jedi path are supposed to be slow and difficult).

9. Give Dark Jedis HIGH FS experience by killing ANYTHING, HIGHER FS experience by killing another FS Player, normal FS experience by running destroy missions and no FS experience by healing or running escort missions (yup, most here is high, Dark side is supposed to be quicker and easier than Light side).

10. Don't allow Jedis to be married, neither do some emotes (/kiss and the like), they are supposed to control their EMOTIONS.

11. Allow Dark Jedi Masters to CREATE BH Missions.

12. Allow Master BH's to create BH missions.

13. Allow Master Politician to CREATE BH Missions.

14. Make -ANY- MOB (but rebel ones) nearby attack a Jedi if he/she shows the jedi title over his/her head, ignites the lightsaber or use the force. Make Jedis attackable by ANY player (regardless faction or level) that is nearby if this happens.

15. Create a Jedi Council (which must be personified by CSR Members) that will be responsible for granting JEDI MASTER title, or denying it, this can stop the Jedi Flooding on the servers.

Those are my ideas for Jedis, so... what do you think?? i hope you all can understand my poor english lol, if not, questions are welcome (regarding the topic of course =P).

i realy lick this idea. but i have one problem with it i think that the light side should be a little bit ez'er like gittingnormal FS experience by healing non-jedis, and very little FS experience by killinganything, and high FS experience for killing dark jedi "and imp if red" if they rdefending themself.other then that i think this wat is great.

Personally don't like any of the changes you suggest especially the one about having to delete your character that really makes no sense at all. So basically those people who who worked hard on just playing the game that never bothered to do any POI's for whatever reason if they decided to become a Jedi and got one of those messages your saying they have to delete their character then make a new one pray that through whatever weird system your thinking of they would get a message that they cannot check (LOL) and if they get the correct one would have to regrind their Template?

Got major changes coming with the CU and the current Jedi system isn't that old.

Think about some of these suggestions your making and how it affects all players not just the Newbies who join the game rushing into the Jedi profession. Grinding Professions may be a bit of a cakewalk now but Post-CU it will be a different story.

Ok, first this should really be indended for the Jedi forum, not the FS forum.

Second, their once was a randomness to getting Jedi, however, lots of ppl wanted to become jedi, and felt the current way of getting them was too long, and with the recent intro's of the holocrons back then (Christmas 2003) things became tedious in that it was all about grinding out 1 profession then droping it, grind out another, droping it...etc ppl got fed up with that type of system, thus came the Pub 9 Jedi revamp, and changed the way the Jedi was played, then Pub 10 and the village came in, and thus was born the current way of becoming Jedi.

You idea for a Master to take 2 padawans on is a good idea, however the way the system works now is, it's very very hard for any to become a Jedi Master either Light or Dark side, their have been a few though (though expoliting at the time) and where removed from the game. As far as the marrage part goes, if you have actually watched the movies, or read the books, you'd understand that marrage for a jedi is a way in how Jedi have been able to comtinue on through out the centuries, although rare occurances due occur, ie. Anakin.

Allowing some players to create BH missions, could prove to be a major downfall in some things, and could also bring about plenty of griefing.

Their was at one time, before Pub 9, that any Jedi could be attackable by any player, as they would have a TEF when using a saber, but of course those players that had Jedi at the time hated it (also jedi were able to wear armor and do their special moves then) Pub 9 brought in the Jedi robes and removed Jedi having TEF's while using a saber.

As far as the council goes, their is a system already in place for these, Light Side Jedi Knights have a voting system in which to allow their Jedi to move up in ranks, and the Dark Side Jedi Knights have a system where they duel for their spots in the ranks. Having CSR's control these councils, really wouldn't be a good move, as CSR's could play favorites to some players, and also don't think SOE could afford to have who know's how many CSR's to pay to have to be watching the council rankings, and who wants to move upon a 24/7 type basis.

Anyway welcome to theforums now.

Ok, i rewrote some of the suggestions, changes are marked in blue...here i go again:

1. Delete the whole "glowie process"(getting the badges) for becoming FORCE SENSITIVE, instead making it random with VERY low possibilities to get any of the 2 "almost glowie" ("you feel the force surge..." and "you have a strong sense...") or the "glowie" message... keep it to 5 to 2% of possibilities to get this message when creating a character. This will give it a bigger "star wars sense", cause now you can "born" beign force sensitive (as Anakin, Luke, etc). (same as before)

(same as before)

(same as before)

4. If you got one of those messages, then you must find any player character Jedi Knight / Dark Jedi Knight (or Master) and ask him/her to take you as Padawan, achieving now the Title of "Jedi Padawan" (no Dark still). Yes, all of this in your current character, no FS Slot. (same as before)

5. From the moment you become "Jedi Padawan", you suffer of Permadeath, this will force all Padawans to become more "sticky" to their "Master", as seen on the movies (and novels). (same as before)

6. Allow a Jedi Master to get only 2 Padawans at time, when he is done with them (because the Padawan achieved Knight grade or died), the Master must wait 2 months before taking another Padawan again. (same as before)

Open the 2nd character slot when the Jedi gets the "Knight" title. (added 2nd character slot idea)

8. Give Jedi low FS experience by healing non-jedis, normal FS experience by running escort missions (and let Politicians make some of these escort missions, making possible to target another player as the one you must "escort" by a given time), lowest FS experience by running destroy missions and no FS experience by killing ANYTHING in Player vs Player (excepting BH's, these would give NORMAL experience)(yup, there isn't anyaction that gives high FS exp, "light" Jedi path are supposed to be slow and difficult). (added some things)

9. Give Dark Jedi HIGH FS experience by killing ANYTHING, HIGHER FS experience by killing another FS Player, normal FS experience by running destroy missions and no FS experience by healing or running escort missions (yup, most here is high experience, Dark side is supposed to be quicker and easier than Light side). (same as before)

10. Don't allow Jedi to be married, neither do some emotes (/kiss and the like), they are supposed to control their EMOTIONS. Allow this only to Dark Jedi and non-jedi players. (same as before)

11. Allow Dark Jedi Masters to CREATE BH Missions. (same as before)

12. Allow Master Politician to CREATE BH Missions and escort missions for "light" Jedi. (added another type of mission)

13. Make -ANY- MOB (but rebel ones) nearby attack a Jedi if he/she shows the jedi title over his/her head, ignites the lightsaber or use the force. Make Jedi attackable by ANY player (regardless faction or level) that is nearby if this happens and give a TEF to the players attacking the Jedi for the opossing faction members, i mean, if a "light" Jedi gets a TEF by igniting his lightsaber, give him a TEF for all nearby players (rebels or imperials), but, ifplayersattacking the Jedi are, lets say, Imperials, give them a TEF so the rebels nearby can "protect" the Jedi or, if they decide itattack him too. (added some changes)

14. Make Jedi Master 3x the power of any profession, Knight 2x and Padawan 1.5x, and give them "force push" (or kd or whatever is called), "force run" and "force valor"at Padawan level (all this, to avoid Jedi griefing making them easy to escape if outnumbered). (new suggestion)

15. Create a Jedi Council (which must be personified by CSR Members) that will be responsible for granting JEDI MASTER title, or denying it, this can stop the Jedi Flooding on the servers. This Council only would take care of "light" Jedi. (added a minor change)

16. Keep the FRSas Dark Jedi's way of achieving higher ranks, and get "light" Jedi out of FRS system. (new suggestion)

Ok, this is better now...

Now lets go to some discussion:

najee wrote:

  • Naaaah, "light" Jedi path is supposed to be LONG.

and very little FS experience by killinganything

  • Jedi are supposed to control their feelings and not rely in killing, "it is not the Jedi way" as Anakin said in Ep 3.

and high FS experience for killing dark jedi "and imp if red" if they rdefending themself.other then that i think this wat is great.

  • Same as above AND adding that they are supposed to be guards of peace, not Imp-killing machines.

Ialwysdie wrote:

  • Well, force sensitive people are supposed to be BORN like that, they are not supposed to "EARN" it, i see lees sense in going to visit places for becoming FS, WTH it has to do???

So basically those people who who worked hard on just playing the game that never bothered to do any POI's for whatever reason if they decided to become a Jedi and got one of those messages your saying they have to delete their character then make a new one

  • Yup, however there's the chance that they don't need to make a new character, maybe their current is force sensitive, besides, the Jedi popolation NEEDS to be cutted at least in 80%, and NOT EVERYBODY is supposed to be able to be a Jedi, see the movies or read the books if you don't believe me.

pray that through whatever weird system your thinking of they would get a message that they cannot check (LOL) and if they get the correct one would have to regrind their Template?

  • Ok, read the post again, and do it SLOWLY, and don't "lol" at me. The message can be checked, it's just matter of visiting some places and mastering ONE profession, actually it takes WAY MORE time and grinding fulfilling 6 branches of FS skills.

Got major changes coming with the CU and the current Jedi system isn't that old.

  • CU is here, and this is the changes it brought: Jedi are OVERPOWERED, they unbalance the GCW cause almost always non-jedi overts are outnumbered (not counting the power yet)and there's more Jedi overts than non-jedi overts. Add to this that Jedi are WAY MORE powerful than non-jedi and can heal 1500 every 10 secs or so. Something NEEDS to be done, or this will turn from a game about Galactic Civil War into a game about Jedi Wars.

Think about some of these suggestions your making and how it affects all players not just the Newbies who join the game rushing into the Jedi profession. Grinding Professions may be a bit of a cakewalk now but Post-CU it will be a different story.

  • Again, CU is here, no mayor changes to grinding, as a matter of fact, using my suggestionsnow with theCU is better for everybody, n00bs and veterans.

Mr_pepsi wrote:

  • Well, my suggestions are more about a change to become Force Sensitive, so i posted it here.

You idea for a Master to take 2 padawans on is a good idea, however the way the system works now is, it's very very hard for any to become a Jedi Master either Light or Dark side, their have been a few though (though expoliting at the time) and where removed from the game.

  • My suggestions wouldmake easier to become a Master, but harder to become a Jedi.

As far as the marrage part goes, if you have actually watched the movies, or read the books, you'd understand that marrage for a jedi is a way in how Jedi have been able to comtinue on through out the centuries, although rare occurances due occur, ie. Anakin.

  • Can't understand your point here =S sorry.

Allowing some players to create BH missions, could prove to be a major downfall in some things, and could also bring about plenty of griefing.

  • Griefing?? but that wouldn't be so common, there are not many Master Politicians (cause the cities cap in planets) and neither would be so many Dark Jedi Masters, cause they would achieve this in FRS system (light Jedi won't).

  • I don't want to generalize, but Jedi players want all easy and simple, understand that a Jedi way is supposed to be LONG, HARD and DANGEROUS. So this would bring some SW feeling to being a Jedi and could make the perfect answer to our Jedi flooding troubles.

As far as the council goes, their is a system already in place for these, Light Side Jedi Knights have a voting system in which to allow their Jedi to move up in ranks, and the Dark Side Jedi Knights have a system where they duel for their spots in the ranks. Having CSR's control these councils, really wouldn't be a good move, as CSR's could play favorites to some players

  • Well, this happens in the movies, Mace didn't wanted Anakin as Jedi, neither Yoda, Obi-wan did and all others showed noutral/possitive about that. But the point is: the Jedi Council playfavs in the movies, it is supposed to work like that.

and also don't think SOE could afford to have who know's how many CSR's to pay to have to be watching the council rankings, and who wants to move upon a 24/7 type basis.

  • And isn't CSR's work to be in the game 24/7?? how they answer tickets then???

Anyway welcome to theforums now.

  • Thanx!! it's always greatbeing welcomed n_n

i just want to add this, i dunno if its been said

definately, those badges should NOT be the way to get FS, but i think "deleteing your character and starting again" is not the way to go, players who have played for like...2 years dont want to be told "you cant get jedi, try again" right?

here is what i think

Force Sensitive can only be started once you have been in the game (time your character is activated), this will weed out the noobs

to start out FS you will need to find a Holocron.. maybe an Ancient Holocron/ Ancient Sith Holocron

to start to LEARN the ways of the force you either can get a master, who will teach you and etc (get rid of initiate..i guess...or something of that sort)*you can WIELD a lightsaber, but you get vis like the rest of the jedi.. but no EXP loss (or maybe...)*

OR you will loot...more AncientHolocron, not a generic one, but there would be a rare drop in dungeons... non transferrable. each one has dangerous assignments, missions, and has well... "rewards" to it...

instead of gaining "skills" like in the current system you would be given... boxes, or have something like the FRS kinda tree... but we dont get "skills" perce but get more... POWERFUL in the force (the way it should be)

or.. you could teach yourself the force, slowly learning, and you will be... "dangerous", both to you and to the others around you.

better yet, how about this....

Find an anceint Holocron which will give you the basics of the force (FS basically), it will give you a mission to PROVE yourself (if you fail, you must find another holocron and repeat) and get...a lightsaber or something i dunno. the lightsaber will be old and cracked *or equiv* and not be very useful at all.

Either you must loot more holocrons which will give you missions to help... you get stronger in the force, and teach you things *limit on this though..like one per 3 weeks*

or you must teach yourself the force, learning to use the lightsaber, wielding the force

and only when you reach a certain point of force mastery (force enlightenment..whatever) you will be sought out by both sides as ready to become a jedi, this time is very dangerous with you being ripe in the force and both sides eager to take you into their orders..and both sides... not willing to take no as an answer

from here you will be given the rank of Initiate and etc

also, FS will be like the FRS, no "boxes" but after a certain amount of EXP you will move up a "rank" and become strong er in the force, which will give you a general bonus to your abilities

aabadon, i have another suggestion for you, ummm here goes

if you are BORN force sensitive... then thats nice and dandy,

but the FS now dont want to be told you cant get jedi anymore

i say, only a FEW are force sensitive and can skip the first process

but if you arent, you need to do some dangerous and very scary things to GET FS

it wont be EASY but it'll work good enough, and im sure.. that would help

*right now im afraid that... many FS now will be told, im sorry, you cannot do it*

either that or

"at this time you do not feel the connection to the force"

not PERMANENT, but maybe.. now the force has no need for you, or that you do not recognize your abilities

maybe one day you can become an FS, but today, this month whatever the period is.. you do not feel the connection to it

reasonably decent idea for anything except SWG.

Deleting characters is something that people won't want to do and after a while will cause people to quit the game.

PermaDeath is almost always a bad idea. You can't have one player stuck to one master. When you log on you want to play the game not log out because your master is not logged in. I've had many theories about possible apprentice/master systems (not only for Jedi but also for all other professions) and for the most part they don't work out if you require the master to be on for the apprentice to play. Back to PermaDeath it takes a long time to make enough xp to become a Jedi Knight, people who die while close to being Knight will be very unhappy and may easily end up leaving the game.

My original idea (back before the game launched) for Jedi was that it would be random based on places and times. If you happen to be in the right place on the right planet at the right time you'll find something that'll lead you into a quest to become Jedi. It'd be very random and very rare that anyone would have this event happen. For instance at one point while hunting on Dant you see a message on screen "You have a vague sence of something but you don't know what." If you search the area you'll find the NPC/Object or whatever they pick that'll lead you into your quest. This event would happen quite infrequently in very unpopulated areas and would require the player to be within a very close range. The odds of being picked won't go up by much if at all no matter what a player does.

Now, that idea could have worked before people found out they could work to become a Jedi. Now that people know they can work to become a Jedi they won't be happy with any system that won't allow them to know the path from the second they start playing.

They had a poll while they were revamping the system. It asked if they should make the system "Known to players" or "Mysterious and unknown" the players voted "Known to players" by far. I personaly voted for mysterious... but oh well.

I'd just like to ask you one thing... Do you have a Jedi?

Play for more then 3 months before you start telling people they have to delete there character. SoE doesn't want to weed out jedi, they want to keep jedi from dancing around dueling in Naboo. No game on this earth, that wishes to make money, would weed any player out... besides power gamers

I'm going to make a game

Let's weed out the people who don't play that much.

So normally it takes them about 2 years to fully play a game out, so that's not good

Let's give everything to the power gamer since they burn out in few months

who really want jedi can have it.the total process is long enough (18weeks at least)

and the cu reduce xp.So for me jedi are under control

i think that soe must do a better GCW .Jedi system for me is correct at this time
