you just THINK it takes long but it really doesnt...
once i was ready for old man, i logged for about 16 hours and 4 minutes after i logged in and went to my house and outside city limits he popped up out of nowhere
of course, i missed him the first time but i stood still for 1 minute and he showed up again

Thats why the devs called him the Old Man, so they had an excuse to let him take ages. I think we should all chip together and get him a mobility cart.
