Thread: Novice Commando and FS grind with Nades! Anyone do that math?

Has anyone actually done the math on this type of grinding? How much money will it cost and how much XP per buff you would get?
I think it would be pretty interesting to know the facts for those new glowys trying to grind commando 4/0/0/0 thinking its alot easier.

To grind all the way to commando 4000, you need:
91000 Carbine XP
430550 Combat XP
91000 Pistol XP
91000 Rifle XP
91000Unarmed CombatXP
This doesn't look hard at all. The hardest part is the combat XP, but even with C12's, I think any player could knock that out in a day or two.
So what kind of XP can you expect from novice commando vs commando 4000? I have no idea. I know the number of grenades (and time) needed when using Imp Dets vs. C12/C22 goes down drastically. Still, I was able to grind out 45K combat XP in a matter of 30 minutes or so just using C12s. According to some posts I've read here on the forums, that same amount of time with imp detonators can result in capping out combat XP at least once.
As far as cost, that depends on your server's economy and the availability of grenades.

This is pretty good but how about the math on the Nade grind for FS xp. How much is needed to fill a FS tree? How many nades are needed to complete that tree? and how much it would cost to purchase all those nades and Power UP's and Armor needed for this kind of grind.

starting with no marksman and having unarmed 4 already, I got commando 4000 in 2 days (at a decent pace).
Just last night I used 16 grenades (stacks) to get nearly 150k FS xp in about an hour. I don't think I am doing it the most efficient way because i am using too many grenades. Doing a little math, you will need 1.225 million FS xp per branch (4 boxes), which will take a little over 8 hours and 130 grenades. I bought myThermal grenadesfor roughly 70ka crate, so thats around 400k credits total cost per branch. This also assumes you are buying powerups as well.
Someone check my math, but I think thats what it will turn out to be.
EDIT: Forgot to mention armor. The above price does not include the cost of armor. If you are lucky, you can find a suit for 150k (less if you dont buy all the pieces). I have been repairing mine so I havent had to switch yet, but it will soon be time to do so, and I have only ground about 600k FS xp so far. So with that information, a suit will last maybe enough for 1 branch of FS skills. So, add on 150k for armor for each branch.

Well i just spend 2mil on the grind i still have 16 crates of Imp det and currently have Combat Prowess 0/0/3/4. I hope i have enought nates to finish at least the tree. I will try to grind the rest the old fashion way since i ran out of $$$$.

The most reliable way i know of making money for the grind is to get chatting to a doctor, and hunt good quality meat for him.
If it's from spawns which are available on the terminals you can make a lot of money harvesting them.

I tried the granade method last night for getting comabt XP and I must be doing something real wrong.
Was using Imp Detonators (Used all my banked Combat XP getting 3000 commando and was working on 4000 Commando) About 1100-2200 damage on them and I figure I was getting about 120K ofcombat XPper crate of 25 (so 125 uses was ~120K combat XP)
Wasn't using powerups on them and had a non certed weapon in my hand (Nym's carbine). Was getting the full combat XP but just seems like I'm alot less efficient somehow compared to others.

I was bored one day in class and this is what I came up with, keep in mind I already had combat prowess x/x/x/3 before switching to nades:
53 crates on nades (imp dets or thermals) on my server they go from anywhere from 75k to 125k
lets take the median: 53 x 100k = $5,300,000 in nades excluding powerups
Armor: before i started repairing it, I was going through a suit 3-4 days ...so lets just put aside 1mil for armor
swoops: nightsisters love destroying my swoops so 150k for swoops
Buff: on my server they are usually 15k. Depending on how much FS you can grind in one buff lets say 25buffs if you start from scratch; so...25 x15k $3,750,000
Total money: $10,200,000
Like i said, servers economies differ and this is just an approximation of how much money you will need.
