Thread: Just turned FS and after a little help and explaining...

I apologise for those of you that seem to spend all your time on these forums answering the same questions to noob fs'ers such as myself, but hope some of you can bear with me, and hopefully, help me along the right path. This I warn in advance has turned into a bit of an essay...
I gained access to the village this evening yet when i arrived to talk to the npc's it was just plain madness, i couldnt get to speak to many npc's through being constantly attacked by sith. What snatched conversations I managed to make told me little about what i must do, I only managed to speak to Paemos and Capt Sarguilo. Neither of them seemed to explain to me what was going on very well lol
I eventually got a 'quest' from Sarguilo though neither of the options were particuarly appealing to me. Perhaps I should first explain that I am not intending to become Jedi (never-say-never and all that
) but to enhance my existing template with some FS skills. The quests offered by Sarguilo were for melee defence or for ranged accuracy or speed (i cannot remember exactly which), but anyway I am a master fencer/tkm so melee defence is capped by a fair amount already and as i don't use ranged weapons the alternative was equally pointless. Just to try and get things moving I accepted the melee quest and was told to kill 50 outlaws and 25 pirates, i then promptly died as i was not fully prepared for what awaited me - i was set upon by at least 10 sith and before i could escape was incapped twice then db'd.
Anyway to try and keep this as short as I can, I then found out that this was the last day of this 'phase' and now what i guess is that i should have waited before visiting the village until the new phase. So now my questions start
What happens to my old quest, do i have to wait for this phase to come around again to be able to start a new quest, or can i start a new quest on the next phase, then complete this quest when it's phase comes around again?
As this phase is not one that I ideally want, is it possible to drop it somehow? I cannot see an option to do this. As I have only just recently become FS could I perhaps surrender the FS skill and await for another visit from the old man and start afresh, thus cancelling this quest that is of no use to me? Or is it too late for that?
I have more questions but feel i have asked enough already, and no doubt the reponses I will get from you guys will probably just throw up even more...

If you don't finish the quest in the time of the phase then you will have to re-do it from scratch next time around. It counts nothing against you except that you will re-do it. So if you had killed lets say 20 of each and the phase went back to 1 before you can finish then next phase 4 you will have to kill em all over again. It didn't hurt you to take it now in otherwords. IN fact your best bet it to try and finish it ASAP tonight. It's not hard. When phase 4 first came out long ago it only took me 1 hr to do.

Thanks Axiom for your swift response, my mind is more at rest now you have explained to me the situation. Now as i didnt complete the quest, I didnt open the branch and thus haven't committed myself to a skill I am not particuarly after and i can just wait until the next phase and start from scratch, I would finish the quest but cant really be bothered as the tiredness is overwhelming me, I had really just gone to the village to find out more but kinda got sucked into the madness that was ensuing there
Next week I will begin from the beginning and hopefully things will become clearer for me, and I will have an option of beginning a quest to open up a branch I wish to and will be motivated to follow

No problem. The phase sounds like it will change tomorrow and phase 1 is probably best to start on then as the quests are a little easier in the beginning. So if you want a fresh start then you picked a good time. Good luck to you!
