Thread: Force Sensitive Harvesting...non-scout

Hello!

I've been searching for an answer on the boards and have found nothing concrete. My question is simply this: Does Survival I (FS Skill) allow me to use a harvesting droid? Some have said, "Maybe", a few were so bold to state, "I think that makes sense". None has reported any success with this however. In my opinion, this would be a much bigger benefit than the little bit of terrain negotiation and the ability to drop camps.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Seek

Gonna have to say no. You still need scout to harvest. If you have scout, this may enhance your harvest amounts

I had the tree filled and no scout at all. I tried to harvest...no joy. HOWEVER, the terrain negotiation works without scout.

Carry on, *smartly*.

Were you trying to harvest with a droid, or just from the radial? I'm certain you can't harvest, but can you use a droid to do your dirty slicing and dicing?

I tried with a harvesting droid - no luck. All we keep from the line is terrain negotiation 5 and the ability to drop (but not craft) basic camps.

OK, so give it to me straight...any reason at all to blow loads of FS xp on this for +5 terrain negotiation? There are clothing attachments that do better!

Does anyone still use camps? I hang out with a ranger and don't see camps too often these days...

Depends on what you want to do with your character really. If you're going jedi with him, then there are 4 "must-have" FS skills - ranged and melee defense, melee speed, and melee accuracy. The other 2 lines you take are a matter of taste and what classes you have going into this. If you have a crafting class, some folks like to have the assembly branch to help with LS crafting (though it pays off more if you're keeping him as a crafting toon). A lot of people like the luck line, it seems to help with getting better loot drops. A lot of folks get vehicular control for those fast getaways you know you'll need to make once you're on the BH terms. I took Survival because I think 5 TN is better than no TN. If you've got TN tapes (they're getting expensive on the auction forums) and use the right foods, then you probably don't need the 5 TN. If you wear padawan robes (for the extra force and regen), there are only 3 slots to put tapes (2 for trandoshans and wooks) - hat, belt, and gloves. Just so you know how many slots you'll have to work with. Most folks just use bio-clothes.
The ability to drop camps is nice if you're not going into this as a TK with at least the meditate line (and if you're not, I highly recommend that you do, it saves a lot of downtime). If you're hanging on to a favorite ranged prof and have some medic, you can drop a camp to heal up between lairs while hunting in the middle of nowhere.
Don't think of it as wasted fs xp to fill up Survival. You have to fill 6 lines if you're going jedi. Just ask yourself if there's a different line you'd like to have more than the TN5. If you'd rather have the vehicular control, just bank the reflexes xp until it comes up.

FYI...the +5 survival allows you to use the basic camps...VERY handy once you get jedi for no-wait bike pulls.
