Ok so after Pub9 how does it work...do we progress up trees, or do we just get Jedi exp until we get padawan?

You do it like you do any profession tree, if thats what you were getting at. You build skill points, then buy a tree, rinse, repeat.

does a jedi initiate loose xp when killed?

i have now completed 7 padawan trials, when do i reach initiate?

if you are in the midst of the trials, then you ARE an initiate, once the trials are done you are a Padawan. I think there are like 16 of them.
