Thread: Any thoughts for the 56K people in Phase 4?

Ok, so I just built a house in the country and I have dial up. Never has really been an issue before but I can't seem to get anything done with Phase 4. I've been killed 3 times because of the invisible lag (where I can see everything happening but I can't do anything) which is as many times as I have died in the field in like6 months. Any ideas for me besides waiting and hoping people clear out a little?

hmmmmmm, really there's not that many options open to you.


your best option is to go ranged and use an area attack macro.


i did it in 2 waves using strafe2 as master rifleman, that way i did'nt have to press a thing and the lag did'nt matter.

I am not trying to be a smart@ss in saying this so don't take it that way but honestly 56k on a mmo game or even fps games etc. isn't really wise. I know you have no choice but you can't really do anything about it to fix. But since you do and have no choice there is honestly nothing you can do except wait a little while and go when not many people are there or like on server restarts or late at night. I will say Sunday throughout the day there weren't many people there. So if your problem is because you can never get kills (hits) then just wait till off times or wait another week when the majority will have finished it.

I am on 56K, in the middle of nowhere and I did my share of cussing and bitching at all the lag..LOL< wishing I was mile and half closer to the High Speed hook up >took me ore than two waves. What I did when I got to the point where I Couldnt get in alick due to the lagg I would run off about 200m or so... then come back it resets something and the lagg was not as bad. That last 4 pirates was irratating..LOL. I got the 4 told everyone later that posted about 5 minutes later due to lag. I was targeting and hitting area attack.. I see the name over siths go red move on to next yellow name I saw... Yes I even got involved with the thugs.. but I survived it.. and sooooooooooooooo glad... wish anyone with less than High Speed connection good luck with this

LoL same thing here....im on 56k.....had a ping of 2000+ entire time 10 - 20% packet loss (which ive never had) and about 1 - 11 FPs lol ive never had problems with lag in SWG or any FPS but this phase 4 baout made me rip my hair out one by one......was bad lol but i got it done here is what i did.

1) Wait till near the end of the wave.....by then most the people have what they need and stop so lag dies a little.

2) go to the OTHER spawn point. On corbantis there are 2 spawns ( probably two on every server forgive my ignorance ) but there is a north one and the one on the hill....the one on the hill was ALWAYS crowded.....just run to the other and it wasnt crowded at all for me....just a thought

Those are the 2 things i tried and it worked ok for me i finished it in 3 waves so it wasnt TO bad.....i will admit even with the god awfull lag this was the best phase quest ever.....my hats off to the DEVs on thinking up a good quest.... Wow people still use dial up... I would have thought that it had gone the way of the dinosaur lol. Well, I would suggest you turn all your graphics down as much as possle. Other than that I really dont know what to tell you other than get out your phone book and look for a high-speed company in your area, and if you do welcome the 90s!

Wow, I'm not the only one who uses dialup?


I live exactly 1.75miles from broadband availability. It sucks.


Dialup doesn't keep me from playing, but it might keep me from jedi.

i also plan to get a house instead of this damn apartment, as soon as we can actually.

and i really, REALLY, hope that it will be possible to get broadband :/

I have a suggestion... get satelite ;-)

Really, I live in the sticks too, and used to play on a 24k connection and 256 mb ram, boy was that fun
Now i have satelite and everything is much better, despite my 500ms ping

Yeah right... you buying it for me. Dont you think I checked all my options. would get satilite if the package deal price wouldnt cost me my arms and legs =) Think when the other half gets back to work again I might look into satilite.. til then the frustration of massive lagg from getting around lots, and lots of blaster fire

I would go into the Launchpad Game Options and turn everything down to a minimum. I know that will lower the gameplay, but it should help abit.

i did the healing portion with dialup and it took me alot longer than other people because of lag. What I couldve done in 1 or 2 days took me a week

Im running on a connection which runs at 28.8 - 40 kbps and the pay i tackled it was ...


If you can try and get in quite late at night .. this will 1


Lower the numbers of people camping ... Lessen the number of selfcentered kids spamming specialsso that you can get a few shots in.


This allowed me to do it quite easily in 2 days.
