Hello everyone. I have one question. Do I have to do the majority of the damage on melichae? or can I be grouped with someone and get quest complete. Thanks for answering guys

When i killed mellichae with my buddies i got 2 or 3 hits. Then 2 thugs jumped my back and i ran all ove rthe place until my friends killed mellichae. Then i proceeded to loot him, went to a force shrine and started my trials.
