In the 1970's the NY Times proclaimed God is dead. Well I'm pretty sure the old man who visits you when glowing is also. Going to check sunday times to see if he's mentioned.
Thanks to much advice gained on these boards I got glowing! Seriously, thanks guys. You've been a ton of help. But for the life of me I can't seem to get the visit. It's been several days now.
I've tried almost every posted strategy. Camping in and out, taking shuttle from player city to player city and running toward 0 0 on the map. I made a waypoint for 0 0 for the last 2 days I would log in take a shuttle and then run all the way to 0 0 then run to shuttleport and camp / rinse & repeat. No luck. I'm on Tatooine on Bria not sure if that has any effect.
I'm very open to any input guys since I've exhausted most of the strategies for getting the visit that i have found. Thanks again for the advice and always being helpful with my dumb questions.

I suggest, that you don't think all the time at the old man. He will come.. but if you expect his visit everytime you log in, you only will be disappointed, when he doesn't show up. Go your business, take some nice missions, play your game.. He will show up

It because you mention 'the old man', if you say his real name then he comes, but its a secret.

I've spent a whole day doing all the stuff which should make him come faster but he didn't came. When I started to do my usuall stuff again he showed up after I shuttled.
Just make sure if you shuttle somwhere to wait a min or 2 after you loaded.
For me and 2 other members of my guild, he came after about 48 hours.

That's what I did. I deliberately got the "glow" at a time when I had a compelling project to work on -- in my case, it was grinding Investigation-3, for my last line to complete before mastering Bounty Hunter. Took about a day-and-a-half for him to show up, and the whole time I was like, "Old Man, don't show up yet!" Made the wait feel like it went by in the blink of an eye. And darn it, he just barely beat my race to Investigations-3. But then it worked out again, because the Investigations grind gave me something to do to get my mind off the wait for the next phase, so by the time the phase rolled over, I was a Master Bounty Hunter. Such MASTERFUL planning...

I sure wish I had that kind of patience. But I play mostly alone, my normal in-game friends are still trying to shake the EQ addiction we shared for 5 years. So everything I've done in game has been geared towards making Jedi and building to do it solo as much as I could. I have master doctor/ master swordsman and the left over points in scout for harvesting so i can get the Herb meat on tatooine. I really have nothing to do but wait. I have no other projects, goals etc.. Call it poor timing on my part or maybe just too much tunnel vision.
Someone mentioned earlier that I should slow down and just enjoy the game. I wish I had the patience to do that. But enjoyment for me mean making Jedi. When not grinding I server flip to a character that has no aspirations of even being glowy.
Okay time to log back in and make another shuttle stop, wait 5 minutes take the shuttle & wait there 5 mins then log out, rinse and repeat...
Thanks for all the feedback and input guys. It does sink in and the kind answers to my dumb questions are what helped me get this far.

It's like watching a pot boil. If you concentrate on it, it takes longer.
Find something else fun to do. Like how are you going to grind your XP when you get glowy? Might be worth starting off on your quest to become commando, or to get a second combat profession.

Best advice just start collecting experience you will need plenty of it. And he will show up. Just play the game, stay out of NPC cities as much as possible and play the game.

There is truth here. The thing to remember is, your actions don't really influence how long it takes for the Old Man to show up. For my part, I was helping a friend with Jabba's Palace when he showed up during a break in the action.

get buffed, goto dant and find a single halfway decent critter (quenker or something)... kill it. if the old fart doesnt spawn immediately and run to you then you killed it too fast which is why i say goto dant, since on tat you would probably 1 hit the critter.

I've gotten glowy on two different characters. Both times the old fella wandered up while I was fighting.
