Supposedly it allows you to get an extra 64m range on your surveying equipment. Planning on getting it in the next few days, I'll let you know.

But...but...but...the question is, when you get to the point that ya wanna go for knight and have to drop art. will it still allow ya to survey, or do you have to have at least novice art. for it to have effect ?

As the sticky FAQ says, you CAN survey 64x64 with the full FS survey branch and no artisan.

ukapu is correct and I am shocked that this actually works. I just tested it with all the surveying branch and no artisan and was able to survey and sample. Glad to see one of these mods does something.

Update: The FS Surveying tree appears to be beneficialonlyat the artisan extremes (low end = no artisan, high end = artisan surveying 4), but nowhere in between.
I have the whole FS Surveying branch. I tried out a +5 Surveying CA last night and dropped down to Artisan Surveying 3. This gave me a total ofSurveying +100, the equivalent of Artisan Surveying 4. But I was not able to get the 320m range that is awarded with the Artisan Surveying 4 box, only 256m
